Agentic AI & Automation Consultant – UK-Based Role
Location: UK Company: Ciklum (a custom product engineering firm supporting multinational organisations and scaling startups)
About the Role
As an Agentic AI & Automation Consultant, you’ll join a cross-functional development team at Client, the recognised operator and standards body for the UK’s interbank retail payment systems. Powering £7 trillion in annual transactions across Bacs, Faster Payments, and the Image Clearing System, Client brings together infrastructure critical to the UK economy—enabling seamless, secure, and fast money transfers for individuals and businesses.
Your Mission:
Join a high-impact digital transformation initiative driving enterprise-wide intelligent automation and AI/ML-powered modernisation. Your work will focus on:
- Designing and implementing robust, scalable, and highly secure technical architectures.
- Safely integrating core payment systems with advanced AI/ML, data engineering pipelines, and intelligent automation frameworks.
- Balancing cutting-edge technical innovation within the strictest financial regulations and governance frameworks.
Responsibilities
Technical & Architectural
- Design, implement, and optimise automated CI/CD pipelines for:
- Application deployments
- Machine learning workflows
- Process automation scripts
- Manage cloud infrastructure at scale using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (Terraform, Ansible, etc.), ensuring:
- Environment consistency
- Scalability
- Security resilience
- Monitor ecosystem availability, system health, and workload performance, establishing:
- Proactive alerting
- Automated self-healing mechanisms
- Collaborate with software/data engineering teams to establish:
- Containerisation best practices (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Microservices orchestration approaches
- Localised developer tooling for efficiency

Security & Compliance (DevSecOps-first Approach)
- Enforce rigorous cloud security controls including:
- Secrets management policies
- Least-privilege IAM (Identity and Access Management)
- Vulnerability scanning at every stage of delivery pipelines
Requirements
Technical Proficiency
- 5+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, SRE, or Systems Engineer within a cloud-native ecosystem.
- Proficient in primary cloud platforms (preferential:
- AWS
- Azure).
- Deep hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks:
- Terraform
- Ansible
- Expertise with:
- Containerisation (Docker)
- Microservices orchestration (Kubernetes environments)
- Strong foundations in programming/scripting (Python, Bash, or Go).
- Extensive knowledge of modern CI/CD systems:
- GitLab CI
- GitHub Actions
- Azure DevOps
Soft Skills & Cultural Fit
- Passion for solving high-impact, interdependent tech challenges in a regulated financial services environment (banking/payments domain).
- Collaborative mindset with a focus on governance, compliance, and measurable impact.
- Willingness to engage with complex architectures, balancing innovation with strict security/process constraints.
