Senior DevOps Engineer — SC Cleared
About the Role
We’re collaborating with a leading UK banking organisation to recruit a Senior DevOps Engineer for their Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) platform—a vital component of the UK’s financial infrastructure.
You’ll be part of a team operating at the heart of this mission-critical service, ensuring the seamless functionality of the UK financial system. This is an opportunity to work on large-scale, high-stakes systems while pioneering modern DevOps practices in a complex, high-availability environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support, maintain, and enhance a critical RTGS production platform
- Drive automation and continuous improvement across infrastructure and delivery pipelines
- Manage environments and ensure safe, controlled releases into live production
- Lead and coordinate incident management, minimising disruption to critical services
- Coach and mentor engineers, embedding DevOps best practices
- Collaborate with architects and engineers on end-to-end system design and domain roadmaps
- Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning and delivery
- Provide out-of-hours support in a 24/7 operational environment

Requirements
- Strong experience supporting production systems, including on-call responsibilities
- Hands-on expertise with Kubernetes/OpenShift (on-premise)
- Deep knowledge of Linux systems administration in high-availability environments
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, integrated with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins)
- Proven track record of building and improving automation-first DevOps environments
- Experience with observability tools (Splunk, ELK, Prometheus, Grafana)
- Strong background in incident management and service recovery
- Solid understanding of Agile delivery and DevOps principles
