Senior DevOps Engineer

London, Hybrid

We are looking to help an international tech consulting company find a Senior DevOps Engineer, to become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow.

The end client for this project is the recognized operator and standards body for the UK’s interbank retail payment systems. As the infrastructure core supporting the UK economy, Client runs the critical networks that power Bacs, Faster Payments, and the Image Clearing System, enabling individuals and organizations to transfer money safely, quickly, and securely. Processing billions of transactions worth over £7 trillion every single year, Client's mission is to power payments, champion innovation, and serve as the smartest way to move money now and in the future.

You now have an opportunity to join a high-impact, multi-disciplinary engineering initiative driving enterprise-wide digital transformation and intelligent automation. This project focuses on designing and implementing robust, scalable, and highly secure technical architectures that safely integrate core ecosystem systems with advanced AI​/​ML capabilities, data engineering pipelines, and intelligent automation frameworks. Operating within a highly regulated financial services landscape, the project balances technical innovation with rigorous governance, compliance, and structural integrity.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and optimize automated CI​/​CD pipelines for application deployments, machine learning workflows, and automated process scripts
  • Manage and scale cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies, ensuring environment consistency, scalability, and security resilience
  • Monitor ecosystem availability, system health, and workload performance, establishing proactive alerting and automated self-healing configurations
  • Collaborate closely with software and data engineering teams to establish containerization best practices, microservices orchestration, and localized developer tooling
  • Enforce rigorous cloud security controls (DevSecOps), ensuring proper secrets management, least-privilege identity access management, and vulnerability scanning throughout the delivery path

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional experience operating as a DevOps Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), or Systems Engineer within a cloud-native ecosystem
  • Proficient with primary cloud platforms (AWS or Azure preferred) and deep, hands-on experience using Infrastructure as Code frameworks (such as Terraform or Ansible)
  • Solid expertise working with containerization tools and orchestration platforms, specifically Docker and Kubernetes environments
  • Strong programming or scripting foundations (e.g., Python, Bash, or Go) paired with extensive knowledge of modern CI​/​CD systems (such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps)
