Job Description
As a Digital Portfolio Manager (Agile) (Senior Officer) within HMRC’s Chief Digital & Information Office (CDIO), you will support the delivery of digital products and services across a portfolio or programme environment.
You will work across multiple Agile teams to ensure delivery is coordinated, risks and dependencies are understood, and progress is visible to stakeholders.
Operating in a fast-paced and complex delivery environment, you will play a key role in maintaining delivery momentum, enabling teams to work effectively and contributing to successful outcomes across the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Support delivery across a portfolio of Agile teams, coordinating activity, aligning plans and ensuring dependencies are actively managed.
- Working closely with Senior Agile Delivery Managers, Product Managers and stakeholders, help maintain delivery oversight, ensuring that risks, issues and priorities are clearly understood and acted upon.
- Apply Agile and Lean delivery practices to support effective ways of working, helping teams collaborate, improve delivery flow and continuously enhance performance.
- While you will operate across multiple teams and contribute to delivery outcomes, overall ownership of portfolio performance and escalation beyond programme level will sit with senior leaders.

Essential Criteria
- Experience delivering digital products or services within Agile or multidisciplinary environments.
- Experience coordinating delivery across multiple teams or workstreams- including managing risks and dependencies.
- Ability to operate within structured delivery and governance environments- maintaining delivery oversight.
- Strong communication skills- with the ability to provide clear delivery insight to stakeholders.
- Experience identifying and resolving delivery risks- issues or blockers.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to support delivery outcomes.

Salary and Benefits

How To Apply
As part of the application process, you will be asked to provide the following:
- A name-blind CV including your job history and previous experiences.
- A 1000-word Personal Statement, describing how your skills and experience would make you suitable for the role, and how you meet the Essential Criteria and Person Specification.

Sift
In the event of a large number of applications being received, an initial sift may be held on your CV.
At full sift your CV and your Personal Statement, will be assessed, with the successful candidates being invited to interview.
We may also raise the score required at any stage of the process if we receive a high number of applications.
Interview
During the panel interview, you will be asked experience-based questions to explore what you are capable of.
Interviews will take place via video link. Sift and interview dates to be confirmed.

Reserve List

Merit List
After interview, a single merit list will be created, and you will only be considered for posts in locations you have expressed a preference for. Appointments will be made in strict merit order in line with the set number of roles in each location.
