Senior Digital Support Technician
Salary: G8 SCP 28- 33 £33,700 - £38,220 – Pay Award Pending
Working hours: 37 hours a week, full time, all year
Start date: ASAP
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: This is a hybrid role, combining HO working with travel - A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, as regular travel between school sites is essential.
About the Role
Shaw Education Trust is seeking a Senior Digital Support Technician to join our Digital Services team, providing expert technical leadership across our Staffordshire schools. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering reliable, secure and innovative digital services that support teaching, learning and operational excellence.
Working closely with school-based IT teams and the Regional Heads of Digital Services, you'll provide advanced technical expertise, mentor colleagues and help shape the continuous improvement of our digital infrastructure. You'll also ensure our schools remain compliant with security and IT standards while building strong relationships with staff across the Trust.
Key Responsibilities
- Acting as the senior technical escalation point, resolving complex hardware, software and network issues that cannot be resolved by school-based IT technicians.
- Supporting a portfolio of Staffordshire schools, providing expert technical guidance and building strong relationships with school leaders and staff.
- Conducting IT compliance surveys, digital assurance reviews and technical audits to ensure systems remain secure, compliant and fit for purpose.
- Mentoring and supporting frontline IT technicians, sharing knowledge and developing technical capability across the team.
- Assisting with the planning, implementation and maintenance of network infrastructure, end-user devices and digital services across multiple school sites.
- Supporting the continuous improvement of ICT systems, ensuring services remain reliable, secure and aligned with the needs of our schools.
Requirements
We are looking for someone who has proven experience in a senior IT support or infrastructure role, ideally within an education environment, strong troubleshooting skills across Microsoft technologies, hardware, software, networking and cloud-based systems.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues
- Collaborative approach, with experience mentoring or supporting other technicians
