Job Description
We are seeking a senior communications leader to drive Visa’s corporate media, external relations, and reputation strategy across Europe. This role involves leading integrated communications programmes to:
- Align with business priorities
- Strengthen Visa’s reputation in Europe
- Work closely with Government Affairs, Risk, and Legal teams
Successful candidates must demonstrate strong judgement in high-profile situations, the ability to operate across multiple European markets swiftly, and a proven track record of advising senior leaders. They must equally excel at shaping strategy and executing it, while clarifying complex issues for compelling, credible external communication. The opportunity requires proactive issue anticipation, strategic risk and opportunity management, and positioning the organisation effectively.
This London-based position reports to the SVP, Corporate Communications Europe.

Responsibilities
Corporate Media & Communications
- Lead corporate media strategy across Europe, positioning Visa on key topics like payments, digital commerce, and economic growth
- Design and execute integrated campaigns across earned/own/digital channels
- Develop clear, insight-driven narratives on regulation and industry shifts
- Oversee communications for major announcements, partnerships, and milestones
- Build high-level relationships with top-tier European media
- Prepare senior executives for media engagement
- Draft and oversee documents such as executive briefings, issue reports, opinion pieces, and stakeholder communications
Issues Management & Reputation
- Act as the primary point of contact for issues management and crisis communications across Europe
- Advise leadership on reputational risks and emerging issues
- Establish risk monitoring and mitigation approaches across markets
- Remain aligned with Legal, Government Affairs, and global teams
External Relations & Public Affairs Alignment
- Partner with Government Affairs to support policy/regulatory priorities
- Translate regulatory updates into clear external messaging
- Support executive thought leadership and positioning
- Build ties to industry organisations and stakeholders in payments and financial services
Leadership & Delivery
- Serve as a trusted communications advisor to European leadership
- Lead and foster growth in a high-performing team
- Exercise influence across the matrixed organisation
- Manage agency teams, budgets, and multifaceted programmes
- Use data and insights to shape strategy, plan, and measure impact

Qualifications
Proficiency
- Extensive experience in corporate communications, public affairs, and issues management
- Background in payments, financial services, technology, or regulated industries
- Track record of advising senior executives in high-stakes scenarios
- Ability to lead multi-market communications initiatives
- Exceptional writing and communication skills
- Versatility to operate at pace, juggle priorities, and thrive in ambiguous environments
- Strong leadership, team management, and stakeholder engagement abilities
- Sound decision-making and composure under pressure
