Senior Director, Data Engineering

Aristocrat is seeking an accomplished and innovative Senior Director, Data Engineering to lead the development, delivery, and ongoing improvement of our solutions that power customer-facing analytics, reports, and data feeds. This role bridges technology, product, and customer success. You will drive engineering excellence for a complex and visible data platform supporting our global gaming digital businesses.
As a key leader, you will guide a geographically distributed engineering team, ensuring secure, scalable, and performant data solutions that empower our customers. Join us to be part of an ambitious team that thrives on innovation, collaboration, and flawless execution!
What You’ll Do
- Define and deliver the global data engineering strategy for customer-facing solutions, aligning technical execution with product vision and customer expectations.
- Partner closely with Product teams to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions and serve as a senior technical liaison with customers and partners.
- Lead and mentor a distributed team of managers, engineers, and technical leads, fostering collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
- Establish and enforce data engineering guidelines, standards, and processes across multiple platforms and technologies.
- Drive automation, quality, and performance across data pipelines and customer-facing systems.
- Ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of data products supporting:
- Customer data feeds
- APIs
- Reports
- Dashboards
- Coordinate resource planning, workload distribution, and prioritisation across multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Collaborate deeply with:
- Product Management
- Project Management
- Architecture
- Data Governance & Compliance
- Analytics
- Data Science
- Application Engineering teams
- Build a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging:
- Experimentation
- Adoption of modern engineering practices
- Ensure all engineering deliverables comply with:
- Enterprise data governance
- Compliance
- Security
- Privacy requirements
- Act as a visible leader who can:
- Distill complex engineering topics for non-technical stakeholders
- Influence decisions through clarity and empathy

What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field.
- 12+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics delivery, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles.
- Proven track record of building and leading customer-facing data products or analytics platforms.
- Deep expertise in Snowflake and modern cloud platforms, particularly Azure (experience with AWS or GCP a plus).
- Strong technical proficiency with the modern data engineering stack, including:
- dbt
- Coalesce
- Airflow
- Fivetran
- Python
- Familiarity with DataOps practices, including:
- CI/CD
- Infrastructure-as-code principles
- Demonstrated success managing distributed teams across multiple geographies.
- Outstanding relationship-building and communication skills; ability to work effectively with:
- Executives
- Product leaders
- Customers
- Experience driving delivery excellence within Agile and DataOps environments, emphasising:
- Automation
- Quality
- Industry experience in:
- Gaming
- Digital entertainment
- iGaming
- iLottery (strongly preferred).
- A strategic yet hands-on leader who:
- Thrives in ambiguity
- Cuts through complexity
