Senior Director, Data (First Party Consumer Data & AI Activation)

Job Summary
The Senior Director, Data is accountable for defining and leading the end-to-end strategy for first-party (1PD) consumer data, data products, and AI-enabled activation across the digital landscape. Sitting within the Marketing Data/Tech & Capabilities team, this role provides strategic and people leadership for senior data roles, including Director, Data Products and Senior Manager, Data (Consumer). The role partners with Marketing Categories, IMX Media, Technology, Analytics, Legal, and brand development teams, scaling consumer engagement, loyalty, and commercial impact through digital touchpoints.
A strong focus is placed on AI-enabled ways of working, leveraging advanced analytics, automation, and personalization to drive measurable business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership
- Own and evolve the overarching strategy for collecting, managing, and activating first-party consumer data, aligning with enterprise and marketing objectives such as brand equity, incremental sales, and volume growth.
- Provide strategic leadership for data product and consumer data activation agendas, ensuring clear direction, prioritization, and alignment across teams, roadmaps, and investment areas.
2. Team & Talent Development
- Lead and develop senior data leaders and teams, setting clear objectives, fostering collaboration, and building capabilities in data products, CRM, activation, and AI-enabled marketing.
- Define the vision for AI-enabled consumer engagement, including personalization, predictive analytics, automation, and advanced measurement frameworks, ensuring adoption across markets and brands.

3. Data Governance & Compliance
- Oversee scalable data collection frameworks (websites, apps, registrations, surveys, loyalty programs, digital interactions) to ensure high-quality, compliant consumer data.
- Guide data enrichment and identity strategies, including responsible third-party data use, to strengthen consumer profiles, segmentation, targeting, and media effectiveness.
- Champion data governance, consent, and privacy, partnering with Legal, Privacy, and Compliance teams to ensure GDPR compliance, consent management, and ethical data use.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Marketing, Media, Technology, Analytics, and external partners to align data, activation, and technology roadmaps, balancing short-term execution and long-term capability-building.
- Champion AI-driven, test-and-learn working methods, embedding experimentation, continuous optimization, and data-driven decision-making.
- Ensure best-in-class orchestration of end-to-end digital CRM, lifecycle marketing, and ecosystem activation, driving consistency, relevance, and performance across consumer journeys.
Requirements
Core Skills & Experience
- Strategic & leadership mindset: 12+ years in data, digital marketing, consumer engagement, or marketing technology, with senior leadership experience managing complex teams and portfolios.
- Data & AI expertise: Proven ability to operate at both strategic and executional levels, translating business goals into scalable data, technology, and activation strategies.
- Cross-functional leadership: Demonstrated success in complex, matrixed environments with strong stakeholder management, communication, and influence skills.
- Deep technical & operational knowledge:
- First-party data ecosystems
- Digital CRM, identity, personalization, and measurement
- Hands-on experience with platforms like Adobe Experience Platform, Adobe Journey Optimizer (or equivalents)
- Data analytics, AI, automation, segmentation, and targeting methodologies
- Team-building & talent development: Track record of building high-performing teams, developing senior talent, and fostering innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Location
- Primary: London, UK (Travel required: 0–25%)
- OtherPossible Markets: Italy, Poland, Spain
Salary (Base)
- Italy: €97,700 – €142,000
- Poland: PLN 435,000 – PLN 692,000
- Spain: €110,000 – €156,000 Note: Base pay may vary based on experience, skills, and geography.
Additional Benefits
- Full benefits package (medical, financial, etc.), dependent on role.
- Annual Incentive Reference Value: 30% (competitive, performance-based target).
