Senior Director – Electrical, Automation, Safety & Nautical (EASN)
At Carnival Corporate Shipbuilding (CCS), we are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Senior Director – Electrical, Automation, Safety & Nautical (EASN). This role will serve as a technical authority for CCS, responsible for providing leadership across electrical, automation, safety, and nautical disciplines in both newbuild programs and in-service fleet support.
About CCS
CCS (Corporate Shipbuilding) within Carnival Corporation leads the new ship acquisition process and provides in-service support for all eight brands operating over 90 ships globally. Our approach is agile and project-driven, fostering empowered project teams organised into cross-functional Chapters. Our Chapters consist of specialists collaborating on talent development, knowledge sharing, and problem-solving to drive excellence in maritime innovation.

Role Overview
This critical position requires end-to-end accountability for technical excellence, strategic direction, risk management, and governance in:
- Electrical power generation and distribution
- Automation and control systems
- Integrated safety and nautical systems
Your influence starts with early design phases and continues through construction, commissioning, and Fleet in-service support.
Under the guidance of the Chapter Lead, you will:
- Shape and grow the EASN Chapter through mentorship and constructive leadership.
- Collaborate extensively with brands, shipyards, suppliers, consultants, and regulators to:
- Ensure safety, compliance, and operational optimisation.
- Provide final escalation and decision-making authority on complex matters.

- Act as final escalation and authority for technical matters across EASN, resolving high-risk issues.
- Ensure technical governance and integrity in:
- Supplier selection
- System concept and design development
- Provide end-to-end technical oversight throughout the vessel lifecycle: from concept and contracting to construction, commissioning, and delivery.
- Represent CCS as the senior technical authority with external stakeholders including shipyards, suppliers, class societies, and regulatory bodies.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate technical risks, while driving innovation, standardisation, and continuous improvement across newbuilds.
- Develop and empower technical leaders within the EASN Chapter by mentoring, delegating, and maintaining accountability for outcomes.
- Promote the EASN Chapter within and beyond Carnival Corporation, fostering strong multi-brand relationships and industry engagement.
Position Requirements
We are seeking candidates with:
Experience
- Very deep experience in technical leadership within complex engineering environments, preferably in:
- Shipbuilding
- Marine
- Offshore industries or similarly regulated sectors
- Proven track record of acting as or contributing to technical authority and escalation points in high-risk decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to shape technical strategy, innovation and roadmaps, aligning with organisational and fleet capabilities.
- Expertise in matrix management, collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams spanning brands, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring technical talent, structuring succession planning, supporting knowledge transfer, and driving long-term organisational resilience.
Qualifications and Certifications
- Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., naval architecture, mechanical engineering).
- Chartered Engineer recognition.
- Postgraduate qualifications (MSc, MEng, or MBA).
- Project management certification (e.g., Agile, PRinCE2, PMP).

This role is permanent, full-time, and office-based for three days weekly (including Wednesdays) at Carnival House, Southampton.
