Job Description

About the Role

The Financial Services team at FTI Consulting supports financial institutions, regulators, governments, and enforcement agencies across the full spectrum of financial regulation. Our practice areas include:

  • Regulatory and business change programmes
  • Governance and conduct matters
  • Risk and regulatory advice
  • Risk management frameworks
  • Disputes, Investigations, and Remediation programmes

Working alongside a multi-disciplinary team with experts across every major financial hub, we tackle complex challenges with agility and precision. Our teams combine specialised industry knowledge, regulatory expertise, forensic insights, and strong communication skills to deliver meaningful results.

As a Senior Director, you will play a strategic role in shaping the team’s success—leading client projects from inception, contributing to business development, and fostering cross-functional collaboration.

What You’ll Do

Project Delivery

  • Serve as a core leader in project execution, managing a team and acting as the primary client liaison.
  • Work on diverse challenges, including issue analysis, project management, stakeholder engagement, document reviews, interviews, process walks, solution development, and report drafting.

Business Development

  • Lead sales efforts, including client pitch meetings, proposal drafts, and pitch presentations.
  • Secure extensions to existing engagements and expand relationships through your network.

Team Leadership & Growth

  • Provide mentorship to junior colleagues while fostering an open, collaborative environment.
  • Build and strengthen internal and external relationships to pursue cross-service engagements.

Thought Leadership

  • Contribute to brand-building initiatives for FTI Consulting and the Regulatory Risk Management team through:
    • Developing industry thought leadership collateral
    • Designing and participating in high-impact events

Note: Travel may be required as part of project execution.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, juggling multiple high-impact projects.
  • Experience leading diverse stakeholders, including senior leadership and global offices outside the UK.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Extensive experience interpreting and advising on UK regulatory regimes, particularly:
    • Financial crime regulations (POCA, Money Laundering Regulations 2017)
    • FCA regulatory perimeter, governance, and conduct provisions (COBS, SYSC, PROD)
    • Consumer Duty, Senior Managers & Certification Regime
    • MiFID II, MiFIR, market abuse legislation
  • Proven expertise building, implementing, and maintaining risk management and compliance frameworks, including:
    • Remediation programmes
    • Policies, procedures, governance structures, and monitoring plans
    • FCA authorisations, FSMA requests (s.165/166, BoE-led skilled person reviews)
  • Ability to lead transformation initiatives and assessment work, including:
    • Gap analysis, training, monitoring, assurance, and reporting
    • Regulatory impact assessments and compliance gap analysis

Professional Background

  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent (or significant professional certifications in compliance/regulation).
  • Multiple years in financial services, gained through:
    • Experience within a regulated institution (e.g., bank, insurer, fintech).
    • Advocacy in consulting, regulatory policy, or legal practice related to financial services.

Preferred Requirements

  • Awareness of global compliance frameworks (including ESMA EU, SEC, CFTC, Basel 4).
