We are seeking a Director-level Management Consultant based in London, specialising in Retail, to shape our Retail & Consumer Goods business unit’s growth. This is your chance to develop and execute strategies, refine operations, and lead in one of the UK’s most distinctive consultancies.


About the Role

North Highland is hiring a Director-level Management Consultant to strengthen our Retail & Consumer Goods vertical, collaborating closely with our London Portfolio leader. This is a transformative opportunity to guide strategic vision-to-value execution, cultivate the Retail business unit, and deliver impactful consulting solutions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Solution Delivery & Growth

    • Drive business development and project execution across the Retail & Consumer Goods sector, creating tailored strategies for long-term success.
    • Consultand advise on business transformation, change management, and project execution—leveraging insights across Retail’s commercial, operational, and digital landscapes.
  • Strategic & Commercial Leadership

    • Build and strengthen client relationships—maximise engagement opportunities, upsell services, and deliver measurable value to pivotal London-based clients (with travel as needed).
    • Design and present high-value proposals, leveraging North Highland’s holistic expertise:
      • Strategy & Operataional Transformation
      • Technology Integration
      • People & Change Consulting
      • Experience Design & Process Optimization
      • Data & Analytics-Driven Decision Making
      • Programme & Project Management
      • Professional Staffing Solutions

Ideal Candidate

Experience & Expertise

✔ 10+ years in senior-level management consulting, advisory, or Big 4 consulting (Retail & Consumer Goods sector experience preferred). ✔ Proven track record in:

  • Developing lasting strategies and transformation roadmaps.
  • Managing large-scale consulting engagements, including account growth management and new business development.
  • Leading cross-functional partnerships, high-level stakeholder alignment, and club-creating client-driven solutions.
  • Delivering commercial outcomes with focussed proposal development, sales, and execution.

Skills & Attributes

✔ Exceptional technical depth and ability to synthesise complex data/OODA analysis into practical, market-aligned frameworks. ✔ Exceptional communication and influencing skills—presenting proposals with clarity and collaboration prowess. ✔ Emphasis on agility and adaptability, balancing clear prioritisation with a growth mindset. ✔ Self-reflection and leadership genorosity—willingness to mentor peers, share expertise, and foster diverse perspectives. ✔ Proficient in tenanting relationships with senior stakeholders to maximise business development potential.

Formal Qualifications

✔ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. ✔ Master’s degrees or professional certifications (e.g., MBAs, PMPs) are pluses.
