Paramount is seeking an exceptional Communications Professional to provide maternity leave cover for the UK Senior Director of Publicity and Communications, based in London, for an 8-month fixed-term contract. This role will elevate Paramount’s cultural impact and drive viewership through strategic, high-impact publicity campaigns for its growing slate of programming across Paramount+ and Pluto TV.
Paramount+ is a premium streaming subscription service delivering live sports, breaking news, and entertainment, and is a cornerstone of the Direct-to-Consumer division of Paramount, a Skydance Corporation, a leading, next-generation global media and entertainment company. The Company's portfolio unites legendary brands, including Paramount Pictures, Paramount Television, CBS, Nickelodeon, MTV, BET, Comedy Central, Showtime, Paramount+, Pluto TV, and Skydance's Animation, Film, Television, Interactive/Games, and Sports divisions.
Overview
The Senior Director of Publicity and Communications will be based in London and report to the SVP of Publicity and Communications, Direct to Consumer, EMEA. They will develop and execute best-in-class publicity strategies that generate global cultural conversation, drive subscriber acquisition, and establish Paramount+ Originals and Pluto TV as must-watch television. This leader will translate publicity success into measurable business outcomes - including media impressions, social engagement, brand elevation, and industry credibility.
The Publicity and Communications Senior Director will lead publicity strategy from development through premiere and beyond, overseeing campaign planning, media relations, talent coordination, press events, and content positioning. They will manage relationships with entertainment journalists, trade press, external publicists, and talent representatives while working closely with marketing, content, awards, and creative teams.
The ideal candidate is a proven publicity strategist who has led successful campaigns resulting in significant media coverage, cultural impact, and audience growth, with deep knowledge of the entertainment media landscape, emerging platforms, and evolving content consumption trends. Strong cross-functional partnerships are critical, requiring collaboration with marketing, awards, talent relations, content strategy, production teams, external studios, talent agencies, and publicity agencies.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Campaign Development & Execution
- Develop and lead comprehensive publicity campaigns for Paramount+ Original series across scripted and unscripted content, from announcement through premiere and throughout season runs.
- Lead Publicity and Communications for Pluto TV’s diverse slate of programming.
- Design 360-degree publicity strategies encompassing traditional media, digital platforms, social media, podcast tours, and emerging content channels.
- Work globally with regional counterparts to craft and build global strategies for key campaigns and series.
- Create compelling narratives and positioning that differentiate Paramount+ and Pluto TV content in an increasingly crowded streaming landscape.
- Partner with content and programming teams to identify publicity opportunities early in the development process.
- Advise on premiere timing, publicity windows, and launch strategies to maximize media impact.

Media Relations & Press Strategy
- Serve as primary media relations lead, cultivating and maintaining relationships with top-tier entertainment journalists, critics, trade press, podcasters, and digital influencers.
- Develop and execute media strategies that secure high-value placements in key outlets including broadcast morning shows, late-night programs, major publications, podcasts, and digital platforms.
- Oversee development of all press materials including press releases, media alerts, episode descriptions, talent bios, and pitch materials.
- Monitor competitive landscape and identify emerging media opportunities and trends.
- Track media coverage and analyze campaign performance to inform future strategies.
Talent Relations & Coordination
- Work directly with talent representatives including agents, managers, and personal publicists to align on campaign goals and secure participation in press opportunities.
- Navigate complex talent dynamics with diplomacy and build trust-based relationships with high-profile creators and performers.
- Coordinate talent availability for press interviews, photoshoots, and publicity events across global markets.
- Develop talent talking points and prepare talent for media appearances.
Press Events & Activations
- Conceptualize and execute high-impact press events including premieres, screenings, press junkets, and experiential activations.
- Collaborate with events and marketing teams to create memorable media experiences that generate coverage and social engagement.
- Manage press list development, media credentials, and on-site press coordination.
- Oversee creation of press kits, screening materials, and event collateral.
- Serve as on-site lead for major publicity events and press activations.
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of publicity professionals across various levels.
- Foster a collaborative, innovative team culture that encourages creative thinking and excellence.
- Partner seamlessly with Marketing, Creative, Awards, Social Media, Events, and Content teams to ensure integrated campaign approaches.
- Work closely with awards team to identify publicity opportunities that support awards positioning.
- Collaborate with paid media and marketing teams to amplify earned media through coordinated strategies.
- Maintain strong relationships with external publicity agencies and consultants.

Budget & Resource Management
- Manage publicity budget in conjunction with department leadership.
- Allocate resources strategically across multiple titles to maximize platform visibility and ROI.
- Negotiate contracts with vendors, agencies, and service providers.
- Track expenses and ensure campaigns are executed within budget parameters.
Industry Leadership & Insights
- Maintain deep knowledge of entertainment media landscape, industry trends, and competitive strategies.
- Stay current on emerging platforms, content consumption behaviors, and evolving publicity tactics.
- Represent Paramount+ at industry events and cultivate relationships with media organizations and press associations.
- Provide strategic counsel to leadership on publicity trends and opportunities.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field required.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in entertainment publicity for television, streaming, or film.
- Demonstrated experience leading publicity strategy and managing cross-functional stakeholders.
- Proven track record securing high-impact media coverage that drives cultural conversation and business results.
- Portfolio of campaigns that achieved significant media attention and measurable impact.
- Experience managing and developing teams of publicity professionals.
- Established relationships with entertainment media, trade press, and key journalists.
- Highly organized, thorough, accurate, and meticulously detail-oriented.
- Highly efficient project manager - deadline-driven and successful at multitasking and prioritizing concurrent tasks.
- Ability to work evenings, holidays, and weekends as needed for events, premieres, and campaign deadlines.
