This role is critical in shaping GSK’s Oncology business by leadership and mentorship—Senior Director in Biostatistics (Real-World Data, Measurement and Analytics)—leading an elite team to advance biostatistical methodologies for real-world data (RWD) applications. You’ll bridge science, technology, and strategy to accelerate novel predictive insights, embedding artificial intelligence (AI) and machine-learning (ML) into oncology analytics.
Together, we unite data-driven expertise with breakthrough potential, leveraging expertise across causal inference, clinical outcomes assessments, longitudinal modelling, precision medicine, and value-based decision-making.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
- Build and lead a high-performing team of biostatisticians focused on Oncology, fostering innovation, collaboration, and upward growth.
- Oversee recruitment, talent development, and performance management, ensuring a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
- Foster working groups across indication areas to maintain high-quality biostatistical support.
- Develop and implement training programmes, mentorship strategies, and professional development initiatives.
Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Provide strategic biostatistical guidance across critical R&D initiatives, epidemiological studies, and post-approval surveillance, aligning with regulatory and business objectives.
- Drive methodological advancements in:
- Causal inference
- Predictive modeling
- Longitudinal analysis
- Application of generative AI/machine learning
- Precision medicine and evidence synthesis
- Establish an external R&D collaboration strategy with academic partners and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to enhance the field.

Cross-functional Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with clinical biostatistics, medical affairs, epidemiology, and commercial teams to align R&D support and accelerate value.
- Act as GSK’s senior biostatistics expert in oncology, supporting strategic discussions, thought leadership, and ora liasing across functions.
- Prepare and disseminate key deliverables, including scientific publications, whitepapers, and conference presentations.
- Work with clinical executives, data scientists, and regulatory teams to integrate biostatistical governance into routine workflows.
Communication & Impact Amplification
- Lead internal outreach to showcase RWDMA advancements and promote their value.
- Communicate findings clearly to global teams and external audiences—including through high-impact conference talks and industry papers.
Requirements
Educational Background
- Ph.D. or M.S. in biostatistics, statistics, or a related scientific domain, or equivalent industry experience.
Professional Experience
- 12+ years of biostatistics experience in a pharma/biotech/academia/healthcare setting, with RWD expertise.
- Proven record of team leadership, building high-performing biostatistics groups.
- Deep expertise in:
- Advanced analytics, including machine learning, predictive modelling, Bayesian inference, and Big Data applications.
- Evidence synthesis, causal analysis, and clinical outcomes research.
- External engagement with academia, industry thought leadership, and regulatory bodies.
Skills & Qualities
- Collaborative, visionary, and accountable—able to drive change through diplomacy.
- Excellent strategist with commercial acumen for translating data insights into palliative programmes.
- Outstanding communicator who excels in stakeholder Sessions.
Preferred Qualities
Additional credibility and innovation-honed experience in:
- Multi-parameter clinical trials or de-risking paradigms leveraging RWD.
- High-impact journal/editorial contributions to the RWD biostatistics space.

Benefits & Compensation (US Role)
Compensation
The salary for this role ranges from $196,500 to $327,500 per annum, reflective of market positioning, experience, credentials, and management level. Periodic annual bonuses and participation in equity-based long-term incentive programs are included.
