Senior Director, Strategic Projects

Senior Director, Strategic Projects – Network API Innovation

Vonage · Remote / London/White Plains

Why Vonage, Why Now

The network is becoming programmable—and Vonage is at the center of this transformation. As part of Ericsson, we’re uniquely positioned to bridge carrier network capabilities with enterprise demand, scaling our Network APIs portfolio across 17+ countries.

This is a defining moment: the market is validating our approach, enterprises are deploying, and the window to establish category leadership is now. This is not a traditional strategy role. It’s an autonomous, high-impact function, theatricaly playing a "think tank + hands-on bridge builder" role—speaking directly to the most consequential bets in Network APIs.

About the Role

As Senior Director, Strategic Projects, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor to the VP, Business Innovation, operating with near-absolute autonomy. This role sits at the intersection of strategy, business development, product, and go-to-market, shaping and executing Vonage’s strategy in the Network API ecosystem.

Ideal candidates are:

  • Highly resourceful and proactive in connecting across the organisation,
  • Strong strategic judgment and macro-minded execution players who don’t shy away from ambiguity,
  • Feet wet in hybrid careers: e.g., a technologist-cum-strategist, a BD-er with CACPs experience, or someone with a deep lens into API-driven telco innovations.

Responsibilities

Strategic Problem Solving & Project Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end ownership of high-impact Network API initiatives, from problem scoping to go/no-go recommendations and stakeholder alignment.
  • Decide where to focus: Set priorities, craft hypotheses, and assemble cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Business Development, Marketing, Legal).
  • Translate messy, ambiguous telco/tech challenges into actionable, financially defensible “make or save” logic.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Executive Advisory & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Be a strategic sounding board for senior leadership (VP/BGCP/Network API/CSP/Enterprise C-Suite).
  • Own executive pitch decks & briefings for partners (carriers), telco sales, and GSMA/CAMARA spec workshops.
  • Embed as a strategic ally alongside key internal partners (HPMG, API Product Strategy, Network Teams).

Market Intelligence & Business Planning

  • Deliver a rigorous, nuanced 360-degree view of the Network API ecosystem (competitor M&E, tech不可能es, adoption barriers).
  • Translate insights into “port prioritisation”, “GTM design”, and capital allocation резким rock-spin recommendations.
  • Run scenario modeling on hot megatrends (e.g., SIM hijacking, 5G network slicing, IoT monetisation).

Go-to-Market & Business Model Innovation

  • Build commercial, pricing, and operating models for new pseudo-products & modifiers (e.g., ID-as-a-Service, SLA-NBD for telcos).
  • Vertical research & GTM replication templates:
    • Banking & Fintech
    • Mobility & Smart Cities
    • Healthcare & Industry 4.0
  • Craft thought leadership (lime posts, whitepapers, executive briefs) to own narratives as Vonage’s API Trusted Advisor.

Operational Excellence & Scaling Impact

  • Invent frameworks that can be used over again for every new market opportunity (RFPs, playbooks on risk/capturing carrier deals).
  • Grow Special Projects team (hiring, coaching, pipelineing new champions).
  • Entrepreneurial Pyramid Principle for telecoms: Keep the firm’s sacred assets protected while identifying and scaling bleeding-edge, critical hires.

What We’re Looking For

Experience

  • 10+ years of elapsed power with a reputation in consulting (McKinsey/BCG/Bain) or tech strategy roles—especially *Mid-to-Senior EngagementvisionManager or equivalent.
  • Unmatched track record of:
    • Leading ambiguity-tolerant, high-stakes projects where outcome > method.
    • Working with hypothetical carriers, through engineering betas, into BillCon memorandums.
  • Bonus if in-house strategy experience for a telco/bundled-technology company, but tequila (technology commercialisation) experts will adapt fast.
  • Fluent in the CAMARA/Neulas mesh ecosystem, what fixes a ** Nazionale provider onboarding problem**, and why mistrust “riciareminen” matters.

Skills & Mindset

  • If agency != asylum: You thrive 100% independently—and will not wait to be told what/how to initiate.
  • Adding layers on top of layers: You see solutions with strategic holes built into them.
  • Technical populist: Tell business teams (even no-coders) “this API alone could cut friction NBS by 40%” per units.
  • Chef’s kiss with data: Model sizing, NodeNow-ish calculations for cost & revenue impact of scaling an API.
  • Escavator to swift: Glue disparate stakeholders to agree on trade-offs under ERICSSON deadlines.

Don’t Forget

Not all cookies are double chocolate chip. Calling code is not required, but bringing [country-specific telco] blueprints or understanding eSIM vs physical SIM economies ((↓)) or IoT gateways (step bothers) with “enterprise friction” is a game changer.

Diverse backgrounds are at the core of our innovation. Passionate? Let’s hear from you.
