Position Overview

Ithaca Energy is accepting applications for the position of Senior Drilling Engineer. Reporting to the Wells Engineering Team Lead based in our Aberdeen Office.

The Senior Drilling Engineer will have oversight and/or provision of Ithaca well design, planning, programming and operations across the Ithaca operated portfolio, promoting techniques and strategies that maximise asset value.

Responsibilities

  • Targets efforts to ensure that all wells are designed and delivered in accordance with UK statutory requirements and Ithaca policies, standards and procedures, whilst driving excellence in Health, Safety and Environmental performance, technological innovation and continuous performance improvement.
  • Mentoring of Drilling Engineers.
  • Support NOJV operations when required.
  • Preparation of Ithaca well designs, drilling programmes and regulatory submissions in compliance with UK statutory requirements and Ithaca policies, standards and procedures.
  • Adhere to the Ithaca Well Delivery Process (WDP) and ensure compliance with well examination scheme.
  • Review, influence or prepare scopes of work and appropriate technical specifications for procurement of equipment and services.
  • Be a technical focal point for assigned contracts. Responsible for managing the agreed relationship with service providers and in setting the KPIs with the Contract Owner and C&P Specialist.
  • Monitor and/or prepare scoping, budgetary and AFE level well cost estimates (deterministic and/or probabilistic).
  • Timely identification of long lead material and equipment.
  • Monitor and measure performance against expectations. Analyse variances and capture lessons learned.
  • Coordinate and liaise with other disciplines on well related issues.
  • Coordinate service company support to service providers performance.
  • For operated assets, review operational written instructions (after development by offshore rig management and service specialists) prior to offshore approval.
  • Implementation of lessons learned system and championing of all performance improvement initiatives applicable to drilling operations.
  • Assist and deputise for the Superintendent, as required during operations.
  • Emergency Response delegate.

  • Bachelor's degree in Drilling Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, Petroleum Engineer or similar.
  • Extensive competency in well engineering and site supervision.
  • Demonstrated capability in team supervision and analytical competence.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with colleagues, partners and all other stakeholders.
  • Respecting the knowledge and experience of others, sharing information and building effective relationships.
  • Ability to encourage & celebrate success, performance and diversity. Being approachable, assisting & developing others according to their needs.
  • Ability to analyse multiple sources of data, make connections & create high quality solutions, prioritising the key issues & consequences.
  • Desire to strive for excellence. Being energetic, passionate and resilient, taking personal accountability for performance and delivering results.
  • IWCF Well Control Certification.
