Job Description Due to the rapid and exciting growth of our internal environmental consultancy services, we're looking for a Senior Ecologist to join our team. In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in delivering a diverse range of projects across the UK, spanning the road, rail, water, and property sectors. Location : Penrith, Cumbria– travel to sites and offices required, with remote working available Hours : 37.5 hours per week – Some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us Salary : £40,000 – £50,000 per year + £5.9k annual car allowance + private healthcare + benefits We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role. What will you be responsible for? As Senior Ecologist, you'll provide expert technical advice, lead the design and delivery of ecological surveys, mitigation strategies, and licences. You'll champion nature-based solutions and drive innovation across the business, ensuring sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Your day to day will include: Supporting the delivery of ecological consultancy services across sectors including road, rail, water, and property Leading ecology services and implementing appropriate mitigation and enhancements Authoring and reviewing technical ecological documents Overseeing the management of construction risks associated with ecology Leading and contributing to client, stakeholder, and technical meetings, actively promoting environmental principles, best practice, and innovation What are we looking for? This role of Senior Ecologist is great for you if: A degree in Ecology or equivalent experience Full membership of CIEEM (or working towards), or equivalent A UK protected species licence Strong working knowledge and experience of UK Habitat survey, habitat condition assessments, Defra Biodiversity Metric, and Biodiversity Net Gain plans Rewards and benefits We're proud to be able to offer our brilliant people a wide variety of benefits that you can tailor to your needs.
