Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll bring technical insight, strategic thinking, and a commitment to high-quality delivery for some of the most challenging, complex, and innovative infrastructure projects. Your focus includes:
- Delivering protected species surveys, ecological clerk of works, environmental impact assessments, habitats regulations assessments, and biodiversity net gain projects across sectors like water infrastructure, highways, rail schemes, or energy projects.
- A balance of desk and site-based work to ensure effective ecological assessments and on-ground implementation.
- Designing and developing ecological monitoring programs while overseeing survey teams to guarantee high-quality data collection.
- Taking ownership as the first point of contact—providing expert direction to clients and stakeholders.
- Mentoring and knowledge-sharing: Act as a teacher, sharing skills with both colleagues and external audiences, including conferences, presentations, and client meetings.
- Exploring multiple career pathways whether in leadership or technical focus. Progression is supported regardless of preference, with management being optional rather than mandatory.

Requirements
Essential:
- A strong background in terrestrial ecology with several years of relevant industry experience.
- Full membership of a professional body OR sufficient experience to meet full membership criteria.
- Proven experience in running ecological inputs on medium to large-scale projects.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with acute attention to detail.
- Demonstrated personal accountability at a senior level.
Ideal:
- Current valid driving licence.
- A technical specialism in terrestrial ecology. Broad experience and adaptability are equally valued.
