Head of Fraud & Compliance – Digital Ecosystems
(Critical Role in Fraud Prevention & Compliance for Global D2C Brands)
About the Role
We’re Pentland Brands—a global family business behind iconic sport, outdoor, and lifestyle brands like Speedo, Berghaus, Canterbury, Endura, Ellesse, Kickers, and Mitre. This role is critical to safeguarding our digital ecosystems by identifying, preventing, and mitigating fraud risks while ensuring compliance, security, and innovation.
As Head of Fraud & Compliance, you’ll drive strategy, implement robust protections, and foster a culture of security awareness. Your impact spans across multiple brands, shaping fraud detection, regulatory adherence, and operational excellence—protecting both the business and consumers globally.
This is an opportunity to lead a fraud prevention strategy, leveraging analytics, technology, and compliance, with the ability to align with divisions like Digital, IT, and Financial teams.
Core Responsibilities
Fraud & Payment Protection
- Define objectives for new fraud management systems based on current trends, business needs, and compliance requirements.
- Design, manage, and refine fraud detection rules aligned with evolving threats (e.g., identity fraud, payment fraud, chargebacks).
- Ensure the system balances security with user experience (friendly for analysts, seamless for consumers).
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for fraud detection effectiveness, including operational costs, conversion rates, and security outcomes.
- Implement strict GDPR, PCI, and DSS compliance processes, including audits, documentation, training, and reporting.
- Conduct real-time monitoring to detect and mitigate emerging threats.
- Own chargeback disputes, ensuring they remain within fraud rules and are strategically defended where possible.
- Support payment teams with digital strategy, propositions, and validation against fraud trends.
- Produce weekly/monthly fraud reports (payment activity, high-risk transactions, risk mitigation strategies).
- Align payment reconciliations with finance teams to ensure accuracy and fraud resilience.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Relationship & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with third-party vendors, operational teams, IT specialists, and business stakeholders.
- Propose solutions to cross-departmental challenges (e.g., fraud crossover between IT, Finance, and Marketing).
- Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences, from team-level discussion to executive presentations.
