Senior Economic Development Officer
Senior Economic Development Officer (OR Economic Growth Specialist)
Job Purpose
To play a senior role in helping implement the North West Leicestershire Economic Growth Plan, by leading the formulation and delivery of specific initiatives and projects.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Key Areas of Focus
• To take a specialist role in one or more of the following areas within the council’s Economic Regeneration Service:
- Enterprise, Business, Skills and Intelligence
- Town Centre, Investment, Marketing and Promotion
- Visitor Economy Development
- Regeneration and Economic Infrastructure Projects
• To proactively support the district’s urban and rural communities, driving strategies that:
- Increase retail occupancy levels
- Boost visitor numbers
- Attract new indigenous and inward investment
- Stimulate business creation and growth
- Deliver new/renewed economic infrastructure
- Develop skills and employability
- Encourage local consumer spending
• To build multi-level partnerships (from national to local) to advance initiatives that enhance the wellbeing of district residents.

• To ensure the Council’s policies and strategies reflect the local economic needs—maximising opportunities to collaborate with businesses while also capturing opportunities arising from other service departments.
• To identify funding sources and lead/the_board of economic growth initiatives, including:
- Developing and submitting funding applications
- Working with local enterprise partnerships and government bodies to secure support
General Responsibilities
• Customer-focused approach – act as an advocate for business and community needs, proposing innovative improvements • Efficiency and excellence – delivering duties effectively and setting higher personal standards • Performance improvement – self-assessment and professional development • Reputation enhancement – helping to build pride, passion, and a strong profile for North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC)
• Operational compliance:
- Engage in the Council’s appraisal scheme
- Complete necessary training to support the role
- Ensure adherence to health and safety standards
- Uphold the Equality and Diversity Policy

• Broader role flexibility:
- Tasked with any appropriate reasonable work based on role grading
- Participation in civil emergency response as required
Post Details
- Working hours: 36.25 hrs per week
- Salary: £37,280 (provisional, pending pay award)
- Benefits:

- 34 days holiday (inclusive of bank holidays, escalating to 38 days after 5 years)
