Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent
We are seeking a skilled and innovative Senior Educational Psychologist to join our leadership team. Working for Leicester City Council, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary, diverse team that is friendly, supportive, and well-regarded, working in a unique and vibrant multi-cultural city. Our service has a strong commitment to the value of applied psychology in promoting positive outcomes for our children, young people and their families within Leicester City.
Your Role
As a Senior EP, you will take an active role in developing our service, ensuring that our practice and delivery continues to evolve and is responsive to changing priorities, community needs and current research developments.
- Provide effective leadership for the professional quality and effectiveness of designated areas of the service
- Be responsible for aspects of the operational management of our broad-based psychology service
- Build and maintain strategic relationships within education services and beyond
- Ensure that the advice and support given by EPs, Trainee EPs and Assistant Psychologists complies with professionally expected standards through high quality line management and supervision
- Be provided with high quality supervision and CPD, with regular opportunities for peer support and collaborative working

You will need
We are looking for a Senior EP who is enthusiastic about the value of applied psychology in promoting positive outcomes for our children and young people and their families. You will be creative and flexible with excellent interpersonal skills, and demonstrate a reflective approach to practice and a commitment to furthering the development of our children’s workforce.
Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge and experience of a wide range of psychological assessments, interventions and collaborative action research at individual, group and at the whole school and locality level.
As a Senior EP you will need to manage people and resources. As an experienced and successful educational psychologist, you will need to be a professional role-model, able to motivate others to achieve set objectives and with a commitment to developing new leaders in psychology.
About Our Service
We have a strong commitment and culture of collaborative working both within and across local services, and we continue to deliver a broad range of psychological services. Our service model includes:
- Working with all of our City schools through a link EP arrangement, giving the opportunity to develop our creative delivery of psychology and promote new ways of working.
- Working with the virtual school, international new arrivals, anti-bullying (Positive Peaceful Places) and with designated specialist provisions in mainstream settings.
- Exploring different ways of working through the EHC assessment process, as one of the Change Programme Partners, supporting us to be up to date with our EHCA workload.
- Working with our local MHST team on an NHS funded project.
- An integral role in the LA EBSA strategy.
- Working closely with our Children’s Hospital School.
- An expanding accredited ELSA training and supervision offer.
- Protected time for all EPs for development work which involves training, consultation and local area strategy work with a range of partners.
- Encouragement for all staff to develop areas of professional interest.
- Progressing our work on culturally responsive and anti-racist practice.
- Well established links with the Universities Doctoral EP training courses.
