The Vacancy
EDP is seeking an experienced Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Consultant to join our Project Services Team, delivering high-quality health, safety and environmental consultancy services to a diverse portfolio of clients across the UK and beyond.
Reporting to the Business Director, this home-based role involves regular travel and overnight stays. You will support clients across a wide range of sectors, working on both long-term programmes (12+ months) and shorter, targeted consultancy assignments.
The Role
You will work closely with client organisations at all levels from operational teams through to senior leadership and board level, providing pragmatic, high-impact EHS solutions. Engagements will range from single-site organisations to complex, multi-national businesses.
As a key member of project teams, you will be expected to consistently deliver work to a high professional standard, contribute effectively to collaborative projects, and take ownership of your own outputs. You will also play an active role in enhancing EDP’s internal systems, processes and service delivery approach, ensuring projects are efficiently managed from inception through to completion.
Key Accountabilities
- Deliver consultancy projects effectively and through to successful completion
- Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of EDP’s products, systems and delivery processes
- Build, maintain and strengthen long-term client relationships
- Work collaboratively with clients to understand their EHS objectives and tailor solutions accordingly
- Support business development activity through input into proposals, presentations and client meetings
- Clearly articulate EDP’s value proposition to existing and prospective clients
Role Requirements
- Minimum 4 years’ experience within the EHS sector, consistently delivering against client expectations
- Strong ability to communicate, influence and present credibly at all organisational levels, including executive leadership
- Demonstrable success in driving improved EHS performance within client organisations
- Proven people management and stakeholder engagement skills
- Excellent project management capability
- Experience developing client-focused, practical and differentiated solutions
- Strong listening, negotiation and presentation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Full UK driving licence

Experience & Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- 4+ years’ experience working within an EHS consultancy or professional services environment
- Graduate IOSH membership or MIIRSM with up-to-date CPD
- Practitioner-level IEMA membership
- EHS auditing qualifications (Lead Auditor status desirable)
- Demonstrable experience implementing and supporting ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 across multi-site organisations
- Experience delivering risk assessments and compliance audits within multi-site environments
- Experience delivering fire risk assessments across multi-site portfolios
- Strong project management skills, particularly in identifying client needs and translating them into effective delivery plans
- Experience working in multi-stakeholder environments with competing priorities
- Exposure to commercially driven environments with performance and revenue targets
- Ability to clearly and concisely explain regulatory and best-practice requirements to audiences at all levels
