The Role

We are looking for an exceptional Electrical Design Engineer to join our Automation & Equipment team. This role will be focusing on the electrical design and build of our bespoke automation systems.

We are looking for someone to own the full electrical design lifecycle from initial schematics and system architecture through to build, commissioning and ongoing optimisation of critical production equipment.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated excellence in electrical design within a automation environment and a solid understanding of designing and implementing of systems with the ability to translate engineering requirements into reliable, scalable solutions. What You’ll Do

  • Design electrical systems, from mains supply to low voltage and I/O, develop detailed schematics based on equipment requirements.
  • Understand and create electrical and pneumatic schematic drawings for bespoke automated machines using SolidWorks Electrical.
  • Design machine safety circuits and perform calculations to ensure safety-related components meet performance level requirements.
  • Capture comprehensive electrical requirements during the design phase and select appropriate electrical hardware.
  • Understand relay and PLC logic for automated machines.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of electrical designs and perform validation checks.
  • Integrate and knowledge with industrial communication protocols like Modbus, Ethernet/IP, and Profibus.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant electrical standards, codes, and safety practices.
  • Design efficient and compliant panel layouts.
  • Systematically debug electrical issues, identifying and rectifying them safely.
  • Engage in hands-on engineering, including panel builds and field wiring.
  • Communicate complex technical information clearly to cross-functional teams.

What We’re Looking For

This role demands someone who takes ownership, moves with urgency, and deeply cares about building the future of health.

  • A degree in an Electrical Engineering discipline or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6-10 years of experience in electrical design, with a focus on control systems and schematics.
  • Demonstrated experience with SolidWorks Electrical for schematic design.
  • Proven ability to design and understand pneumatic systems.
  • Solid understanding of relay and PLC logic.
  • Hands-on experience with panel building and field wiring.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profibus).
  • Familiarity with electrical standards, codes, and safety practices.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience with CMSE certification.
  • Proficiency in PLC Programming and HMI Development on Allen Bradley or Beckhoff platforms.
  • Direct experience designing automation equipment for the medical or pharmaceutical industry.
