To grow our Infrastructure MEP design capability, we are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join us. Working for UK and international clients, you’ll have the ability to run multiple concurrent medium sized projects. You’ll have responsibility for the development, design & coordination of electrical services for infrastructure projects. COWI's active markets include water, transportation and mission critical sectors among others.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Oversee engineering work related to the design and specification of MV/LV power systems and distribution, including the production of single line diagrams, load schedules, cable calculations, and general arrangements.
- Oversee the design of other electrical systems, including fire alarm, security, lighting design, lightning protection and earthing.
- Preparation of technical specifications.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, particularly with the BIM team, to prepare design models and drawings.
- Conducting thorough technical reviews of electrical designs, calculations, and specifications, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
- Participation in project meetings, site surveys and inspections.
- Adhering to all quality and governance processes.

The first step to success in this role is that you are eager to collaborate with the people around you, whether they are colleagues, partners, or customers. On top of that, you’ll have:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status or a similar professional qualification.
- Experience working on large scale UK infrastructure electrical design projects.
- Experience and agility to work across sectors as necessary.
- Demonstrable knowledge in using related software including Amtech, Dialux and ETAP.
- Proficiency in working with BIM software such as Revit, Open Buildings Designer or similar.
- Awareness and knowledge of energy reduction methods, carbon calculations, and sustainable design (particularly low energy).
- A good understanding of British and Industry recognised technical standards and regulations.
- The ability to prioritise own workload and to work to deadlines.
- Knowledge of CDM2015 regulations, with an understanding of key health and safety issues and legislation.
