Senior Electrical Design Engineer – Bicester Office

RED are an expanding international M&E consultancy, specialising in low-energy design and delivering outstanding solutions for clients seeking sustainable, zero-carbon built environments.

With market-leading technical expertise in the digital infrastructure sector, we support the development of globally responsible buildings while optimising efficiency, cost, and time. Our lifetime-perspective approach covers every stage of a project—from concept to execution—using collaborative process-driven delivery and our people’s ingenuity to provide innovative solutions.

Our clients are energetic, ambitious, and deeply committed to their visions. Enabling them to transform their projects into reality demands our own unwavering drive and unique combination of professionalism, unwavering client care, global problem solving and razor-sharp technical expertise.

About the Role

RED is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our Bicester office. This pivotal role balances project leadership, technical excellence, and client relationships across multiple medium-sized projects. Your expertise will shape design, specification, and coordination of electrical installations, ensuring alignment with international standards and client goals.

Ideal candidates thrive in client-facing technical environments, drive consultative leadership, and excel in delivering robust, compliant solutions—from bespoke automation systems to compliance surveys and life cycle validation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical project lead, delivering multiple medium-sized projects independently with excellent timekeeping and quality assurance.
  • Head up client-facing roles, participating in design development, briefing contractors on design-build contracts, and liaising with stakeholders, engineers, and contractors.
  • Specify and validate controls, electrical systems, automation, and compliance requirements for all electrical engineering installations and refits.
  • Conduct site surveys, tests, and assessments of existing electrical systems, delivering reports and validations to meet regulatory and functional standards.
  • Validate designs across teams—overseeing technical accuracy, mentoring trainees, and ensuring adherence to industry and legal standards for BS Code, life cycle safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct daily decision-making on progress, risks, and resource alignment, engaging directly with clients to provide strategic advice and technical leadership.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
