FJA are recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering and infrastructure specialist within the Water and Wastewater sector for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer
This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded capital delivery team working on major water and wastewater infrastructure projects that support environmental sustainability, asset resilience and essential services across Scotland.
The role is based in Glasgow with hybrid working.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering electrical design solutions for water and wastewater capital maintenance and growth projects. Working closely with project managers, multidisciplinary design teams and key stakeholders, you will be responsible for producing high-quality engineering designs and supporting projects through their full lifecycle from concept through to delivery.

Responsibilities Of The Senior Electrical Design Engineer
- Deliver electrical design solutions for water and wastewater capital projects, ensuring compliance with client, industry and regulatory standards.
- Produce and review electrical engineering deliverables including schematic diagrams, cable calculations, cable schedules, layout drawings and technical specifications.
- Support Project Managers throughout all stages of project development and delivery.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated and efficient design solutions.
- Participate in internal and external design reviews, providing technical expertise and guidance.
- Review and check technical outputs to ensure quality, accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- Prepare engineering reports, feasibility studies, specifications and supporting technical documentation.
- Develop and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) where required.
- Ensure designs are developed in accordance with CDM Regulations, Health & Safety legislation and industry best practice.
- Identify and manage technical risks, opportunities and project constraints throughout the design process.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote high standards of engineering excellence.
- Provide mentoring, technical guidance and professional development support to junior engineers and designers.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, stakeholders and project teams.

Required Skills and Experience of the Senior Electrical Design Engineer:
- HNC, HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Proven experience delivering electrical design solutions for water and wastewater projects or a similar process engineering environment.
- Experience producing electrical design documentation including schematics, cable calculations, schedules and layouts.
- Knowledge of MEICA systems within water and wastewater infrastructure would be highly advantageous.
- Experience supporting projects through design and delivery phases within a multidisciplinary environment.
- Strong understanding of relevant electrical engineering standards, regulations and industry best practice.
- Ability to review and verify technical documentation and engineering outputs.
- Excellent analytical, technical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to lead by example and contribute positively within engineering teams.
- Experience mentoring and supporting junior engineers and design staff.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Previous experience within the utilities sector is desirable but not essential.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status, or actively working towards professional registration, would be advantageous.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining technical competence.
