Roles:

Senior Electrical Designer and Electrical Designer - 2x Hires

Location:

Central London - London Bridge

Salary:

£70,000 - £90,000

Package:

All travel paid (office and site), private healthcare, up to 20% annual bonus, and more

We will also be open to applicants who are interested in freelance / contract work.

This role is working for a leading MEP Subcontractor in Central London focussing on Commercial CAT B fit out and residential projects.

Applicants must have UK experience working for either a general contractor or MEP subcontractor

Role Purpose

Responsible for the management, coordination and governance of design activities associated with assigned projects, from pre-construction through to construction support, commissioning and handover.
The role ensures that electrical design solutions are coordinated, compliant, buildable, aligned with programme, quality, project financial commitments and company standards.
The role operates reports into the Contracts Lead / Manager and works closely with Project Managers, Pre‑Construction and site delivery teams.
The successful candidate would have external design, internal Design Engineers, and Trainee Design Engineers reporting into them
The successful candidate will lead the full electrical design process on their given projects whilst being supported by other Engineers and vice versa.
Accountable for the coordination, quality, and timely delivery of design information internally and externally.

This role does not hold commercial or contractual authority and must coordinate with Contracts Managers, Commercial Managers, Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers on cost and change‑related matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage design from pre‑construction through construction and Handover
  • Coordinate consultants, specialists, and design resources internally and externally
  • Ensure design compliance with standards, regulations and specifications
  • Create, manage, maintain design delivery programmes and information release schedules
  • Lead design workshops, review and coordination meetings
  • Identify and resolve mechanical design risks and clashes
  • Support site teams with electrical technical queries and buildability issues
  • Ensure accurate and complete handover of mechanical as‑built information

Experience needed:

  • Must have contractor experience - relevant projects
  • Must be from an electrical background, ideally an engineering background

Qualifications:

  • Level 4 Qualification (Essential)
  • Experience with electrical design
  • HNC or HND in building services engineering but not mandatory.
