Senior Electrical Engineer
Senior Electrical Engineer – Leeds Oncology Contract (St James’ University Hospital)
EQUANS are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for a full-time, permanent position (40-hour workweek) at St James’ University Hospital.

About the Role
Join a dynamic maintenance team dedicated to upholding the highest standards in a NHS hospital environment.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Core Service Delivery:
- Lead and manage reactive & planned maintenance for Leeds Oncology Wing, ensuring high-quality, customer-facing support.
- Execute a wide range of electrical and mechanical services, including:
- Heating and domestic water
- Lighting & power systems
- Air handling units
- Low voltage distribution & switchgear
- Emergency standby generation
- Fire alarm & emergency lighting systems
- Electrical control & Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Cover absent colleagues to maintain seamless service continuity.

Health & Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to statutory, NHS, and Company guidelines, ensuring all work meets safety and operational standards.
- Complete training to perform Authorised Person duties.
- Maintain site records, service reports, and provide progress updates to your line manager.

Support & Collaboration:
- Offer technical guidance and assistance to the maintenance team.
- Assist other skilled trades in repairs, installations, inspections, and testing.
- Represent EQUANS across other healthcare projects as directed.
- Undertake installation work for minor upgrades/adaptations.

Flexibility & Growth:
- Perform overtime as required to manage workloads.
- Act as a Competent/Authorised Person when assigned.
- Participate in professional development to stay updated on best practices.

Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified engineer with:
- 3+ years of post-apprenticeship experience (time-served qualification required).
- Healthcare preference (though experience here is not essential).
- Cross-trade skills a clear advantage.
