About The Role
Are you ready to shape the future of renewable energy by leading high-voltage electrical design across major infrastructure projects – helping connect clean power to the grid and deliver lasting impact across the UK?
At EDF power solutions, we’re delivering an Electric UK and Ireland.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing and delivering substation solutions up to 400kV, supporting projects from early development through to construction and commissioning, and helping drive our transition to a net zero future.
The Opportunity
In this Senior Electrical Engineer role, you’ll lead the design and delivery of HV substation primary plant solutions across a growing portfolio of renewable and low-carbon projects. You’ll contribute across the full project lifecycle, influencing technical decisions, maintaining engineering excellence, and supporting safe, efficient delivery.
Alongside a competitive salary and potential for an annual bonus, this role offers flexibility to be based across our #London, #Edinburgh or #Durham offices, with hybrid working available. You’ll work across multiple UK sites, with travel required to support project delivery and collaboration with teams and stakeholders.
You’ll work within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, collaborating with internal teams and external partners, reviewing and approving design deliverables, and acting as a trusted subject matter expert. There’s also opportunity to mentor junior engineers and shape best practice across our engineering capability

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
