Role Summary / Purpose and Scope
MAPP Building Consultancy is a leading firm of chartered surveyors, known for our innovative solutions and commitment to excellence. We are seeking a skilled and experienced electrical engineer to join our dynamic London-based team.
The Electrical Engineer will:
- Support the Building Consultancy (BC) and Sustainability teams with specialist electrical input and technical design capabilities
- Provide expertise in reviewing electrical services and optimising building performance across our commercial real estate portfolio
- Help deliver net-zero carbon strategies through decision-making on energy-efficient systems
This role is ideal for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer looking to develop technical expertise and leadership skills, with the potential to progress to a Principal role.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Engineering Leadership
- Lead the design and coordination of electrical services, systems, and installations on engineering projects
- Undertake electrical engineering designs, calculations, and simulations using Amtech and DIALux
- Coordinate with building surveyors, architects, engineers, and sustainability teams to integrate decarbonisation strategies
- Prepare technical reports and specifications aligned with client requirements
Project & Compliance Management
- Coordinate and review calculations, specifications, drawings, and reports
- Conduct site visits for engineering projects
- Oversee full project ownership, including budgetary, compliance, QA/QC, and technical review
- Ensure alignment with MAPP policies, RICS, ISO standards, and UK building regulations

Collaboration & Advisory Support
- Manage communication with external third parties (clients, contractors, architects) regarding technical queries
- Represent MAPP at client meetings, internal discussions, and industry engagements
- Ensure membership adherence to professional bodies (e.g., CIBSE, IET) and continuous professional development
Requirements
Experience & Technical Competencies
- 5–7+ years’ experience in electrical building services, with project management capability
- Experience in commercial real estate property management and sustainability-focused projects
- First-class understanding of:
- UK building regulations and standards (British Standards, Approved Documents, IET Wiring Regulations)
- CIBSE Codes/Guidance (ASHRAE knowledge desirable)
- Net-zero carbon strategies and energy-efficient systems
Certifications & Knowledge
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related discipline (level: Bachelor’s or Master’s preferred)
- Member of a professional body such as:
- Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE)
- Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET)
- Alternative equivalent memberships recognised
- Simulation software proficiency: Amtech, DIALux
- Drawing software expertise: AutoCAD (2D design focus) and understanding of Revit, Bluebeam

- £55,000–£65,000 per annum (depending on experience)
