About the Role
You will provide low-voltage electrical design and consultancy services, taking full ownership of specific projects and supporting senior engineers on significant national schemes. Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering safe, compliant designs while ensuring quality and safety across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Guiding junior colleagues, mentoring them, and ensuring workflow efficiency.
Diverse projects include:
- EV infrastructure: Feasibility studies, design, and technical assurance for:
- Local authority schemes (e.g., LEVI for EV charging).
- Large-scale multi-vector refuelling hubs integrating megawatt charging and low-carbon fuels.
- Renewable energy: Specifying and designing generation/storage systems to support net zero ambitions.
- Urban regeneration & highways: Electrical design for safe, functional public spaces and highway projects.
Curiosity, leadership, and adaptability will drive a dynamic work environment where no two days are the same.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll ensure projects meet requirements efficiently and safely by:
- Leading defined design packages for complex or less intricate projects, monitoring compliance (including CDM regulations) and quality assurance.
- Assisting design leads/project managers with technical checks, alignment reviews, and scope verification.
- Managing discipline inputs, timelines, and commercial performance for smaller projects while escalating risks proactively.
- Risk assessment & mitigation, ensuring design solutions are compliant, safe, and buildable.
- Coordinating multi-disciplinary team collaboration, from visioning through construction.
- Supporting bid/tender activities, including technical scopes, methodology development, and electrical cost estimation.
- Mentoring junior engineers/technicians and aligning your work with professional growth goals.

Your Resume Highlighted
Must-haves:
- Proven low-voltage electrical design experience in the UK transport sector.
- Expertise in:
- Processing EV infrastructure design via feasibility studies, installation, or assurance.
- Engaging in multi-disciplinary design, CDM compliance, and technical quality assurance.
- Programme & cost management experience from workstream ownership.
- Clear communications about collaborating between teams and clients.
- City & Guilds 18th Edition qualification (C&G 2382).
Considerations:
- Studio skills (e.g., AutoCAD) as alternatives.
- Refrigerants working towards IEng/CEng Engineering Council, assisting with lifelong learning.
