Senior Electrical Engineer

2 year contract
Inside IR35 – PAYE only
Barrow-in-Furness – 4 days per week in office, 1 day per week from home

Purpose statement

Provides high-quality electrical engineering support ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Morecambe Hub electrical systems.

Accountabilities

As the Senior Electrical Engineer, you will:

  • Provide electrical engineering support to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Morecambe Hub electrical systems.
  • Support and optimise preventive and predictive maintenance strategies in collaboration with maintenance and operations teams.
  • Support asset operations by troubleshooting equipment issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations (ASME, API, ISO, local regulations, company standards).
  • Support inspection, testing, and condition monitoring programs to maintain asset integrity and extend equipment life.
  • Provide technical input to capital projects and modifications, including specifications, design reviews, and commissioning activities.
  • Review and approve electrical work scopes, job packs, and method statements for execution.
  • Oversee contractors and vendors, ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to technical and contractual requirements.
  • Support turn-around, commissioning, and start-up activities as required.
  • Participate in safety studies and risk assessments (HAZOP, HAZIDs, LOPA) and implement safeguards and improvements.
  • Support change management processes by assessing impacts of operational or design changes.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, datasheets, calculations, and operating/maintenance procedures.
  • Act as a Lead investigator using Kelvin TopSet investigation techniques to support business requirements.
  • Perform any other associated duties as reasonably required.

Technical skills

  • Proven experience with onshore and offshore oil and gas operations, maintenance, and asset integrity practices.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical equipment used in oil and gas production facilities including power generation, distribution, and associated systems.
  • Experience with maintenance strategies and reliability engineering.
  • Experience with offshore safety case and permit-to-work systems.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (API, ASME, ISO, DNV where applicable).

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level, ideally MEng in Electrical Engineering (or similar).
  • Chartered Engineer preferable.
