The Opportunity

The UK water sector is undergoing unprecedented investment, creating exciting opportunities to deliver the infrastructure needed to improve resilience, protect the environment and support future generations. At Stantec, our Electrical Engineering teams are at the heart of this transformation, delivering innovative EICA solutions for some of the UK's largest and most complex water projects.

We're looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our growing team in Newcastle or Leeds. Working alongside multidisciplinary specialists across our national Water business, you'll contribute to projects that span the full asset lifecycle, from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design and construction support. This is an excellent opportunity to build on your technical expertise, work with recognised industry leaders and take ownership of increasingly complex projects while progressing your career within one of the UK's leading engineering consultancies.

About The Role

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering EICA design solutions across a diverse portfolio of water and wastewater projects.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Delivering electrical engineering and EICA designs from concept through to detailed design and construction support.
  • Producing electrical calculations, Single Line Diagrams, Block Cable Diagrams, equipment schedules and technical specifications.
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, contractors and clients to develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Supporting design reviews, HAZOPs and technical workshops.
  • Mentoring graduate and junior engineers while contributing to technical best practice.
  • Supporting project delivery across multiple frameworks within the UK water sector.

YOUR IMPACT

The solutions you develop will directly support the delivery of resilient water infrastructure that improves operational performance, reduces environmental impact and provides reliable services for communities across the UK. Your work will influence major investment programmes that help water companies achieve ambitious sustainability and regulatory targets.

Alongside project delivery, you'll contribute to developing technical capability within the team by mentoring colleagues, sharing knowledge and embracing innovative engineering approaches. As your experience grows, you'll have clear opportunities to progress into future technical and people leadership roles.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
