Job Description
Due to significant growth across our Transmission and Distribution Ltd business, United Infrastructure has unique opportunities for experienced Electrical Transmission Tower Design Engineers to join the team. We are seeking somebody that would like to take the next step in their career to move onto a pathway towards a technical leadership role. The UI Transmission and Distribution team provides HV OHL design supporting construction, procurement, and consultancy on a variety of projects within the sector. These roles will ensure technical compliance through a period of significant growth and can be based out of any of our offices, but preference may be given to individuals who can work from our Glasgow or Horsham offices.
The Role
Reporting to the UK Principal Structural Engineer, you will lead approval activities on OHL Structural / tower engineering deliverables across our team. You will oversee the Transmission Tower structural assessment and design outputs, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget, while also identifying improvements in team delivery and fostering staff development, maintaining close collaboration with the UK Principal Structural Engineer and the Head of Engineering.
We invite applications from experienced OHL structural / tower design professionals with a strong background in Steel Lattice transmission towers, who are eager to develop their team leadership skills and potentially step into a Principal role in the future.

Typical Responsibilities
- Lead approval activities on OHL tower engineering deliverables across our team
- Support work acquisition and development activities
- Support safety by design assessments throughout the design process
- Integrate and support the development of innovation within project solutions
- Create design deliverables to confirm the outputs of the engineering studies to internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure, as far as practicable, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with the agreed budget and programme
- Keep up to date with all technical quality management procedures, developments and specifications related to the discipline work scope

Expected
- Proven experience of delivering Overhead Steel Lattice towers and other Transmission line structures, e.g. transmission poles and termination gantries upto 400kV operation.
- Experience utilizing PLS Tower design software
- Experience presenting technical outputs and supporting client engagements
- ISCED Level 6 Bachelors (minimum) or Level 7 Masters (preferred) Degree in engineering discipline, alternatively, tertiary level education combined with suitable industry experience can be used to demonstrate equivalence
- Chartership, PE Status or relevant professional license/registration accredited by a recognized body preferred
- Awareness of key Health and Safety impacts on OHL construction contracts
- Fluent spoken and written English language
- Ability to work as part of a dispersed and remote team and be able to communicate through collaboration software such as Microsoft teams
- Must have a right to work in the UK currently
Desirable
- Experience of providing engineering inputs to OHL Construction activities including the planning and delivery of OHL Construction
- Understanding of engineering management including schedule and cost management
- Experience supporting tendering activities
