Senior Electronics Engineer

Location: Bristol (Hybrid – Flexible Working)
Salary: £60,000 - £75,000 + Strong Benefits Package
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

The Opportunity

Are you an experienced electronics engineer looking to apply your technical expertise to technology that genuinely changes lives?

We are recruiting for an industry-leading technology company that designs and manufactures innovative, life-changing hardware. In this hands-on role based in Bristol, you will lead the electronics design and system architecture for specialized, medical devices.

You will have the opportunity to take full ownership of electronic subsystems, drive technical direction, and mentor a high-performing, collaborative hardware team.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Electronics Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across the entire product lifecycle, from concept to delivery:

  • System Architecture: Lead the design, development, and delivery of complex electronic systems and define hardware/firmware strategies.
  • Hands-on Design: Design circuits, review PCB layouts, and build and test prototypes.
  • Firmware Integration: Contribute to embedded firmware development and champion engineering best practices.
  • Compliance & Quality: Drive verification, validation, and regulatory compliance (including medical and safety-critical standards).
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams spanning hardware, production, quality, and external manufacturing partners.
  • Mentorship: Support and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a technical expert who balances deep engineering knowledge with a collaborative, purpose-driven mindset.

Essential Experience & Skills:

  • Electronics Expertise: Strong background in analogue, digital, and power electronics design.
  • PCB & Circuit Design: Proven hands-on experience owning complex hardware architectures and PCB development.
  • Embedded Systems: Firmware experience using C/C++, ideally with an RTOS.
  • Regulated Environments: Experience working within regulated industries (e.g., medical devices, safety-critical, or automotive).
  • Standards & Compliance: Strong knowledge of EMC, safety standards (IEC 60601 or equivalent), and engineering risk management.
  • Commercial Awareness: Proven ability to successfully balance technical quality, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Communication: Exceptional communication skills with a passion for teamwork and mentoring.
