About the Role

Acting as a senior electronics contract resource, working with the existing electronics team to deliver Versius Plus Ultimate program deliverables. The focus of development will be to support the electronics design, capture and review of complex electromechanical electronics designs that sit within the console of Versius.

The scope of the role will include: Interpreting requirements, Schematic capture, participating in design re-views, supporting PCBA layout, working with the multi-disciplinary project team, test design and supporting board bring up and test in the system.

This role is offered initially on a 6 month basis with the potential to move to a rolling contract. The position is hybrid, with a minimum of 3 days a week being based in the office.

Responsibilities

  • Review design requirements and work within a multidisciplinary team of electronics, mechanical, systems and software engineers to clarify design specifications.
  • Design from first principles (Calculation, SPICE modelling etc), component selection and schematic capture in Altium Designer using CMR’s library.
  • Participate / collaborate with other electronics engineers to review the design.
  • Support the layout of PCBAs through placement and layout reviews, using experience in design for EMC/EMI and sound DFM principles to deliver functional designs.
  • Capture engineering design and test documentation as part of the design process using CMRs processes and templates.
  • Support board bring-up and testing of designs and integration within the wider Versius system.

About you

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have/be:

  • Strong communication and an ability to work embedded within a multidisciplinary team of electronics, mechanical, system and software engineers.

  • Broad foundation in electronics design with deeper experience in one or more of:

    • Embedded microprocessors and control systems
    • Motor drive circuits (1–100 A)
    • Low-voltage power supplies (1 V – 240 V, 500 mW – 1 kW)
    • FPGA designs (25–500 MHz)
    • Analogue sensor interfaces (μV to mV)
    • High-speed communications (up to 10 Gbit/s)

  • Experience taking electronic designs from inception through to manufacture.
  • Experience using Altium Designer for design capture (schematic entry) and guiding PCB layout through to design outputs.
  • Knowledge of DFx principles, and experience collaborating with electronics manufacturers.
  • Good familiarity with design for EMC compliance.
  • Previous experience working in / for a fast-paced engineering consultancy would be highly beneficial.
  • Previous experience in robotics, surgical systems, or other safety critical or high complexity domains would be a bonus
  • Degree or comparable experience in Electronics Engineering.
  • Strong experience of electronics engineering developing products and transferring these to manufacture.
  • Proven track record of delivery as a contractor, working embedded within client teams to deliver high quality, complex electronics designs.
  • Background in a regulated industry (medical devices, aerospace, defence, automotive, etc.)
