Electronics Engineer
Bolton
Bolton-based MBDA is seeking an Electronics Engineer to join our growing team dedicated to designing and developing advanced electronic solutions for MBDA UK defence products.
- Salary: Circa £42,000–£48,000 (depending on experience)
- Location: Bolton
- Working pattern: Dynamic hybrid (3–4 days/week on-site) due to workload classification
- Security clearance requirement: British citizenship only (HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance required)

The Opportunity
Our Electronics Engineers are at the heart of developing cutting-edge electronic solutions for land, sea, and air platforms. Your role would include:
- Design & development of electronics from concept to flight-ready hardware
- Concept generation, schematics, and manufacturing data packs
- Component & COTS (commercial-off-the-shelf) selection
- Testing, qualifying, and certifying products for harsh environments
- Technical reporting for all stages of the product lifecycle
- Investigation support and collaboration with manufacturing teams
- Hands-on experience in our labs (prototyping to production)

This role offers: ✔ Structured mentoring and shadowing of senior engineers/technical leads ✔ The option to progress to Senior Electronics Engineer or Technical Lead within MBDA ✔ Training and support to broaden skills and drive career growth

Requirements
We are looking for proactive, motivated individuals to fulfil this role, ideally with:
✅ Qualification preference:
- Degree (electronics engineering, science, physics)
- HND-equivalent experience in electronics development ✅ Proven experience with:
- Complex electronics design and troubleshooting
- Working in multi-disciplinary teams (mechanical, firmware, software)
- End-to-end product lifecycles (concept → production) ✅ Key attributes:
- Organisational skills with a strong attention to detail
- Resilience and passion for continuous development
- Collaborative mindset
