The Role
The Senior Electronics Repair Engineer is responsible for diagnosing faults and repairing customer warranty returns and production units. The role develops and maintains warranty repair operating and maintenance procedures, produces repair analysis and reports, and supports the Test Resources, Production and Development teams by assisting with and carrying out test procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out fault finding and repair work on warranty returns & production units
- Carry out product testing, both bench testing and production (MTS)
- Analyse failures to identify to component level the root cause of failure (Component / Design / Process)
- To work with production processes when required
- Providing repair analysis and reports
- Assist Quality team to determine failure trends
- Support process improvements and developments
- Managing backlogs together with Repairs manager
- Support Remote warranty activity (e.g. India / USA / Brazil)
- Responsible for Workshop organisation, workflow and general state of tidiness
- Other duties as required to ensure the production area operates effectively and efficiently

Internal & External Relationships
Internal
- Production; keep up to date with current unit specification / performance changes
- Quality team; Reports on failure; support as required deeper customer Failure analysis (FA) requests
- Purchasing; As required
- Engineering; keep up to date with current unit specification / performance changes
- Stores / Warehouse; Retrieval of warranty returns
External
- Suppliers; When additional FA support is required
- Customers; When deeper understanding of the failure is required to help re-create the failure
- DSE Distribution; Support of remote activity
Requirements
- Fault Finding to component level, and repair of PCBA’s
- Ability to operate under own initiative as well as possessing strong team working skills
- Ability to work in a demanding, fast paced environment and to tight deadlines
- Ability to work at a high level of concentration and commitment
- Excellent Communication Skills
- Micro & Analogue Electronic principles
- Working safely in a workshop environment
- Confident IT skills, both Microsoft word / Excel / Outlook and Epicor ERP system
- Relevant Industrial On-the-Job Training
- Maths & English GCSE or similar
