Senior Email Marketing Specialist

Senior Retention Marketing Strategist – Full-time, Remote


About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Retention Marketing Strategist to shape the lifecycle and messaging strategy for a portfolio of high-growth eCommerce/DTC brands. This is a strategic, client-facing role where you’ll drive Customer Lifetime Value (CLV) and repeat purchase rates—not execute tasks but architect high-converting campaigns and automate retention.

Your expertise in direct-response copywriting, data-driven optimisation, and AI-integrated marketing will place you at the forefront of a high-performance agency supporting 150+ brands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Campaign Ownership:
    • Design and manage email & SMS campaign calendars aligned with seasonal trends, product launches, and client-specific goals.
    • Align messaging with the brand’s voice, hierarchy and functional goals.

  • Data-Driven Execution & Optimisation:

    • Write high-converting, meticulously researched copy for all retention touchpoints (Lifecycle Flows: Welcome, Abandonment, Post-Purchase, Winback, VIP).
    • Audit and optimise automated systems, segmentation, offer strategies, and customer journey mapping.
    • Leverage Klaviyo + AI tools to enhance workflows and refine retention-focused automation.
  • Performance & Reporting:

    • Analyse retention metrics (CTR, attributed revenue, AOV, repeat purchase rate, list health, deliverability) and translate insights into actionable strategies.
    • Prepare and present strategic recommendations to clients, digging deeper engagement insights.
  • Client Leadership:

    • Present visionary, measurable strategies during strategy calls with clarity and conviction.
    • Identify roll-up opportunities in scaling businesses (upsells and expansion recommendations).
  • Collaborative Delivery & Upskilling:

    • Work closely with designers, build teams, and account managers to ensure alignment between strategy and execution.
    • Maintain a high standard of precise, scalable strategy across account portfolios.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years in retention marketing, lifecycle management, or CRM with an eCommerce/DTC focus. Agency experience is a must.
  • Deep expertise in Klaviyo/Synchro or similar platforms (proven hands-on history).
  • Advanced Shopify knowledge (ideally hands-on experience with/admin access common for partner brands).
  • Precision copywriting for direct-response campaigns across varied brand voices and psychology flows.
  • Data-driven mindset: proficient in retention KPIs including CLV, AOV, list segmentation, deliverability, and Unsubscribe Rate.
  • Strategic communication skills: clear presentations for founders, brands and stakeholders.
  • Fast-paced adaptability: Flexibility to test and implement AI technologies, forecasting future tech tangents.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with SMS platforms like Attentive or Postscript.
  • Understanding of Meta, Google, & TikTok paid media retention, including SWOT and clearon front end-to-end attribution.
  • Argia with 7-9 figure eCommerce brands, or specific subscription/consumable eCommerce expertise.
  • Brand experience scaling companies through scalable off-talent “personal pipelines”.
