Role Description
The Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer in the Real-Time Applications unit is a key contributor responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing cutting-edge solutions using DSP and Microcontroller technologies.
This role also involves:
- Providing technical guidance and supporting junior and mid-level engineers
- Ensuring systems meet performance and reliability standards
Responsibilities
- Design and implement real-time systems, including DSP algorithms and microcontroller firmware, tailored to project requirements.
- Ensure software meets strict real-time performance constraints, focusing on:
- Latency
- Throughput
- Efficient resource use (memory, processing power)
- Optimize performance and efficiency of:
- Signal processing algorithms
- Embedded systems
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers with:
- Technical guidance
- Best practices
- Skill development support
- Conduct:
- Code reviews
- Design evaluations
- Testing to uphold high-quality standards
- Investigate, debug, and resolve complex technical issues in real-time systems.
- Propose innovative solutions to technical challenges.
- Design systems that comply with regulatory standards.
- Stay updated on advancements in DSP and Microcontroller technologies.
- Identify opportunities for:
- Process improvement
- Optimization of workflows, tools, and methodologies
- Contribute to creation and maintenance of comprehensive technical documentation.

Essential Criteria
- Proven professional experience in:
- Design, simulation, implementation, verification, and validation of digital circuits on DSP and Microcontroller
- Experience in:
- Programming in C++ and C
- Usage of Real-Time Operating Systems (FreeRTOS, Zephyr)
- Laboratory equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, signal generators)
- Peripheral standards and communication protocols:
- I2C, SPI, UART, RS485, RS232, RGMII
- Experience in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python)
- Proficiency in source code revision control, particularly GIT
- Fluent English communication skills (written and verbal)

Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge of:
- SHARC or equivalent DSP architecture
- Build systems (CMake)
- Complex digital electronic circuits/digital signal processing (e.g., FFT, digital filters, resampling)
- Good understanding of agile methodologies
- Proficiency in:
- gitlab, docker, CI/CD, artifactory
- Application layer protocols (DNP, 1588, MQTT)
- Experience with:
- Electronic components and PCB reworking
- FPGA technologies (particularly AMD Xilinx)
