Senior Embedded Software Engineer
Location: Cambridge (Hybrid)
Salary: £60,000-£80,000 plus a competitive package.
Please note: Due to the nature of the work, applicants must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance.

Copello is working with a leading defence electronics organisation to recruit an Embedded Software Engineer to join its expanding engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on the development of advanced embedded solutions for cutting-edge, high-performance systems, contributing to innovative technologies from concept through to production alongside a multidisciplinary team of experts.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop embedded software using C/C++.
- Develop and maintain Embedded Linux and RTOS applications.
- Support board bring-up, debugging and system integration activities.
- Develop communication protocols and networking interfaces.
- Design secure software solutions and support system hardening.
- Investigate and resolve software issues through root cause analysis.
- Produce technical documentation and work closely with cross-functional engineering teams.

Skills & Experience
- Commercial experience developing Embedded Linux applications.
- Strong knowledge of C/C++ and real-time embedded systems.
- Experience with Yocto, RTOS or bare-metal development.
- Familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, Ethernet, CAN, SPI, I2C, UART).
- Experience debugging embedded systems using tools such as GDB, oscilloscopes and logic analysers.
- Knowledge of secure communications and embedded software architecture.
- Python, Zephyr OS, Docker, Kubernetes or Linux kernel experience would be advantageous.
