Senior Practitioner (Permanent – 30 hours per week)
Shift Pattern:
- 07:30 – 20:30 (flexible shifts covering 9:00–17:00 and 12:00–21:00)
About the Role
We are seeking highly experienced, self-directed Senior Practitioners with a strong commitment to patient-centred care and experience in minor injuries and illness (MII). Ideal candidates will be:
- Passionate about Evidence-Based Practice
- Autonomy-minded yet collaborative
- Motivated to join a highly skilled Practitioner-Led Unit within Cirencester Hospital’s dedicated Minor Injury & Illness Unit (MIIU)
The unit operates 7 days a week, accommodating: ✔ Ledger-based appointments (111-b booked & planned returns) ✔ A Practitioner-Staffed Same-Day Minor Illness Clinic funded by the local Primary Care Network (PCN)
Your role will focus on providing Gold-Standard care to both adult and paediatric patients presenting with minor injuries/illnesses in this fast-paced NHS environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, patient-focused clinical care in a Practitioner-Led Unit setting
- Assess, diagnose, and treat acute minor injuries/illnesses across all age groups
- Lead any follow-up and assessment pathways for referred patients
- Collaborate with the Emergency Department, GP networks and healthcare teams
- Contribute to clinical supervision & mentoring of junior staff as required
- Participate in continuous quality-improvement initiatives in Minor Injury/Consultant-led care
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local patient pathways & NHS guidelines

Essential Requirements
- Current registration with a UK professional body (NMC, GPhC etc.)
- Suitable Emerggency Practitioner qualification specialising in minor injuries/illnesses
- Paediatric qualification for MII (Preferred: Paediatric PACR or equivalent)
- Valid teaching & assessing qualification (e.g. QLS Level 4 Adult/Further Education teaching or similar)
- Relevant Direct-Patient care experience in emergency/accident & minor injury areas
- A valid UK driving licence and own transport (company vehicle can be arranged via salary sacrifice scheme)
