Company Description
Ordinary Magic CIC is a mental health organisation working with children, young people and families based in Solihull and the surround areas. We support children and young people within schools supporting their emotional well-being and mental health. We also work within the community utilising family hubs public spaces and reaching children and young people where they are possibly at home depending on needs. Ordinary Magic believes that every child has the right to thrive through every stage of life and we provide emotional well-being support, play therapy, School reintegration, SEND, Cure, community drop-ins, and psychotherapy.
Role Description
The Senior Emotional Wellbeing Practitioner is a full-time, on-site role based in Solihull, working directly with children, young people, and families to support emotional wellbeing and mental health. This role involves undertaking assessments, developing care plans, and delivering evidence-informed interventions in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across health, education, social care, and community services. The practitioner will provide consultation and guidance to other professionals, contribute to integrated care pathways, and help reduce delays and duplication in support.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Maintaining accurate records
- Monitoring outcomes
- Participating in case conferences and multi-agency meetings
- Supporting service development in line with the integrated care model
The role also includes contributing to training, promoting early intervention and prevention, and championing child-centered, strengths-based practice.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in child and adolescent emotional wellbeing and mental health, including assessment, formulation, and delivery of brief, evidence-informed interventions.
- Strong skills in multi-agency collaboration, care coordination, and partnership working across health, education, social care, and community or voluntary sectors.
- Excellent communication, active listening, and engagement skills for working with children, young people, families, and professionals from diverse backgrounds.
- Competence in maintaining accurate clinical documentation, using digital systems, and monitoring outcomes to inform service improvement.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload, work autonomously within agreed frameworks, and make sound, child-focused decisions under pressure.
- Relevant professional qualification in psychology, social work, mental health nursing, counselling, psychotherapy, or a related discipline, with appropriate registration or accreditation where applicable.
- Experience in community or school-based emotional wellbeing services, early intervention, and preventative approaches is highly beneficial.
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion, and to co-producing services with children, young people, families, and carers.
