Job Description
We're looking for an experienced Senior Employee Relations Specialist to join our European Employee Relations Centre of Expertise. This is an exciting opportunity for a subject matter expert in employee relations to partner with our Watford Head Office and North London Stores, providing commercially focused guidance, coaching, and support across a broad range of complex people matters. What You'll Do
As a trusted ER expert, you'll support managers, HR Business Partners and senior leaders across our North London region, ensuring employee relations practices are aligned with UK employment legislation, company policies, and TJX values.
Key responsibilities include:
- Employee Relations Advisory
- Provide expert, commercially focused ER advice to managers at all levels.
- Manage a wide range of ER cases including conduct, capability, grievance, absence management, harassment, dismissals, and complex employment matters.
- Act as the regional subject matter expert for employee relations.
- Coach and support managers through people-related challenges and decision-making.
- Partner with HR Business Partners on strategic initiatives including restructures, organisational change, redundancy programmes, and contractual changes.
- Facilitate and manage ACAS Early Conciliation activity.
- Identify and escalate matters with significant legal, financial, or reputational risk.
- Analyse ER trends and provide insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Employment Tribunals & Litigation
- Lead the coordination of employment tribunal claims in partnership with internal Legal teams and external legal providers.
- Gather and manage documentation, witness statements, disclosures, and evidence.
- Support legal case strategy discussions and manage key milestones.
- Maintain accurate records of tribunal claims, legal activity, and associated actions.
- Provide guidance on employment law risks and litigation prevention.
- Projects & Change Initiatives
- Lead and contribute to business-critical ER projects.
- Support organisational change activities within the Stores business.
- Represent Employee Relations on cross-functional and HR-led initiatives.
- Collaborate with Centres of Expertise and wider business stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.
- Policy & Compliance
- Support the review, enhancement, and implementation of UK HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation and internal governance standards.
- Assist with the development of manager toolkits, template documentation, and process guidance.
- Monitor policy effectiveness and recommend continuous improvements.
- Capability Building
- Deliver employee relations training and coaching to management teams.
- Share employment law updates and best practice across the HR function.
- Support the development of HR Service Centre colleagues and broader HR teams.
- Help build organisational capability through proactive learning and knowledge sharing.

- Strong ER expertise in case management and senior advisory roles.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently across multiple locations and handle priorities effectively.
- CIPD qualified (or equivalent) preferred, with experience in retail or similar fast-paced environments.
- Confident, resourceful, and able to navigate ambiguity with integrity and professionalism.
- You must have the legal right to work in the country you are applying to.
