Context
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer/CFD Engineer, with particular specialism in Computational fluid dynamics for tunnels, ideally railways, to join our engineering team. This position within our MEP engineering team will suit a committed and ambitious engineer who can demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills combined with commercial awareness and the ability to play their part in a dynamic high-performance team.

The Mechanical Engineer/CFD Engineer will be accountable for the delivery of CFD design allocated to MEP Projects, including but not limited to high-speed rail.
Missions/Main Duties
The Mechanical Engineer/CFD Engineer’s main duties will be to develop solutions for tunnel ventilation for MEP projects including high-speed rail, as well as the production of MEP designs as instructed by the projects Contractors Responsible Engineer and/or Lead Engineer and to be responsible for:
- Ensuring designs are completed to meet Lead Engineers requirements.
- Ensuring designs are completed to the timescales agreed with the Lead Engineer.
- Planning the allocated design works to meet the agreed timescales.
- Identify changes to the projects client requirements and raise the changes with the Lead Engineer.
Profile/Skills
Essential
- Degree qualified in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical or related Engineering discipline
- Proven experience in using commercial CFD tools such as ANSYS Fluent, ANSYS CFX, or STAR-CCM+.
- Knowledge of fluid dynamics and CFD workflows, including geometry preparation, meshing, solver setup and post-processing.
- Ability to interpret simulation results and communicate findings clearly in reports and presentations.
- Experience leading CFD studies; experience in tunnel ventilation or other infrastructure applications would be advantageous.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers, reviewing technical work, and providing technical guidance.
- Experience of working with multidisciplinary teams in large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; fluent in English.
- Ability to travel to client sites and other SYSTRA offices will be required.
- Detailed knowledge of construction principles and standards.

- Previous consultancy environment experience advantageous.
- Significant engineering design and site experience in a similar consultancy or contractor organisation.
