We are home to one of the world’s largest groups of maritime consulting engineers and a leader in port and infrastructure development on multiple continents. We’re helping ports and shipyards realise their digitalisation and automation ambitions, as they face growing pressure to become more streamlined and environmentally conscious. We see immediate opportunities for such ambitions to drive and benefit from significant added value in our clients’ asset lifecycles, in terms of efficiency, ROI, and sustainability.

About Our Coastal Team:
We are a specialist team of coastal engineers and modellers who provide effective solutions on worldwide coastal projects ranging from flooding and erosion problems, amenity/tourist schemes through to port and industrial developments. The team has the knowledge and experience to complete all stages of a project from data gathering and interpretation; specification and supervision of site surveys; numerical modelling of waves, tides and sediments; to the design, procurement and construction supervision of coastal structures. Our engineers also have wide experience in the design and rehabilitation of rubble mound breakwaters and the specification and supervision scale physical model tests.

Role Context:
As a Senior Engineer you will report to the Coastal Team Leader and provide technical support within the Coastal Team and our worldwide Maritime Teams.
We are looking for someone with a good understanding of coastal engineering who is able to lead junior staff in the preparation of coastal studies and designs.
Job Role:
To provide technical support as required. Preparation of designs for coastal structures including breakwaters, revetments, groynes etc, from initial concepts through to detailed designs. Production of design calculations. Checking and reviewing calculations produced by others. Producing sketch drawings and details for CAD drawings by others. Checking and reviewing of these prior to issue. Preparation of design/technical reports Preparation of Specifications, Bills of Quantities and assistance with contract documents for construction projects.
This role might be right for you if:
You have 5+ years’ experience on civil engineering projects You have professional experience in planning and design of coastal structures / beach nourishment / scour protection You have UK right to work You have managed / direct / coach / mentor more junior staff in technical matters You have provided sound engineering judgement and advice. You have commercial and technical management project skills, demonstrating commercial awareness You have a BSc/BEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) You have a master’s degree in coastal engineering (desirable) CEng, MICE or near to Chartered status You are a team player with good communication skills (written and verbal) You are familiar with international coastal engineering standards, manuals etc You are familiar with the concepts of numerical and physical modelling

Location:
Our existing coastal engineering team is based in Liverpool, though we are open to candidates based remotely in our offices spread across Great Britain. Possible locations include Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, London, Brighton, Newcastle, Exeter, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow.
