Maritime Team

Home to one of the world’s largest maritime consulting engineering teams, we lead global port and infrastructure development. Our focus is on digitalisation and automation, helping ports and shipyards become more streamlined, efficient, and environmentally conscious.

  • From data analysis, numerical/physical modelling to design supervision and construction delivery

Our engineers are proficient in:

  • Technical consulting
  • Specification and supervision of site surveys
  • Wave, tide, and sediment modelling
  • Breakwater rehabilitation and large-scale model testing

Role Context

As a Senior Engineer, you will:

  • Report directly to the Coastal Team Leader
  • Provide technical leadership across the Coastal Team and worldwide Maritime operations
  • Guide and mentor junior staff in the preparation of coastal studies and designs

Job Title: Senior Engineer – Coastal Modelling & Structures

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer technical support to project teams (coastal and maritime)
  • Develop detailed designs for coastal structures, including:
    • Breakwaters
    • Revetments
    • Groynes
    • From initial conceptualisation to final engineering execution
  • Produce and review design calculations, ensuring compliance with international standards
  • Create sketch designs and technical details; supervise CAD software executions for drafts
  • Prepare design/technical reports and construction documentation, including:
    • Specifications
    • Bills of Quantities
    • Contract documents

Requirements

This role is ideal if you have:

  • 5+ years’ civil/coastal engineering experience, with expertise in:
    • Planning and design of coastal structures (breakwaters, groynes, revetments)
    • Beach nourishment projects
    • Scour protection schemes
  • A BSc/BEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • A master’s degree in coastal engineering (desirable)
  • Professional registration or near Chartered status (e.g., CEng, MICE)
  • The UK right to work
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Numerical and physical modelling tools
    • International coastal engineering standards (e.g., Europort, CIRIA)
  • A track record of:
    • Coaching junior engineers/tech specialists
    • Providing sound engineering judgement in technical discussions
    • Leading projects with clear commercial awareness (ROI, sustainability, cost efficiency)
  • Strong teambased communication skills (verbal and written)
