Purpose of the Role
To undertake and manage a variety of marine engineering projects, including DP assurance, consultancy/advisory services, and updating and upgrading FMEAs for DP and other critical systems. Provide support to the Marine Engineering Manager with work management, maintenance of client relationships, carrying out product and business development, and tender preparation. Represent Global Maritime when attending on-site and offshore.
The role is primarily office/home based, with irregular international travel, sometimes at short notice, to attend for surveys, inspections and client meetings within Europe or occasionally worldwide.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare FMEAs for DP and other operation critical systems
- Conduct trials of DP and other vessel systems and prepare accurate trials reports
- Project manage and deliver high quality marine and electrical engineering consultancy services
- Provide technical leadership and advice to clients and colleagues
- Assist with the coordination of project work and attendances on vessels for DP trials and other systems assurance activities
- Participate in the development of new services and initiatives to improve GM’s capability and competitiveness
- Be proactive in the development and delivery of training and in sharing knowledge internally in GM
- Participate in raising GM’s external profile through preparation of social media feeds and published articles and presenting at industry events
- Participate in business development activities including identifying opportunities, building and maintaining relationships with clients and key stakeholders, and preparing marketing material and tenders for new work
- Actively seek and record client feedback and opportunities for improvement in safety.

Specific Skills, Knowledge and Experience required
- An engineering background in Marine / Electrical / Instrumentation or Control Engineering
- Up to date knowledge of regulatory marine and electrical requirements, industry standards, practices, guidelines and methodologies
- A good working knowledge of marine equipment and systems
- The ability to read and understand system drawings and documents and to analyse, and interpret complex technical data
- Capable of producing high quality documentation in clear and concise English in the form of technical reports and presentations
- Excellent communication and client facing skills including the ability to clearly present complex issues
- The ability to work independently and as part of team
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications
- Medically fit for offshore assignments.
