Role Overview

Due to a number of recent project successes across Hampshire and Sussex, our Southeast region is looking to recruit an additional Section Engineer or Senior Engineer to join the team. We have secured several new infrastructure and civil engineering projects across the region and continue to see a strong pipeline of upcoming opportunities, with further work currently being tendered throughout the South East.

Ideally, the successful candidate will be based in East Sussex, West Sussex, or Hampshire to support the delivery of current and future projects.

Initial Main Duties

  • Liaise with site management to complete quality take offs.
  • Develop awareness of potential commercial opportunities / issues with the project.
  • Develop knowledge and ability in completing hazard / risk assessments and method statements, including alerting relevant personnel to control measures and work methods therein.
  • Carry out relevant inspections and testing to ensure conformance of the works with the design and specification.
  • Train, manage, and mentor junior engineers.
  • Manage sectional setting out requirements on site.
  • Manage the sectional service plans/ drawings. Issue permits accordingly.
  • Assist the QS / Project Manager with providing the relevant information for records and claims purposes.
  • Manage the as built requirements of your section and contribute to the completion of the site health and safety file.
  • Ensure all work complies with quality, safety, and environmental policies and the requirements of the company procedures.

Ideal Candidate

Are you the person we are looking for?

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering schemes with experience at Section Engineer level or above, ideally gained working for a main contractor on infrastructure projects including structures and highways.

You will have experience working under NEC forms of contract, a good understanding of construction practices, quality assurance processes, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and be computer literate, including the use of CAD.

Applicants must hold a valid CSCS card, SMSTS qualification, and a full UK driving license, with a willingness to travel throughout the South East region as required.

You will possess strong leadership and communication skills and be able to work collaboratively to deliver projects safely and efficiently. A degree or HND in Civil Engineering is desirable, along with qualifications such as Temporary Works Supervisor (TWS), Permit Controller, NRSWA, and First Aid at Work.
