Job Title: Senior Engineer – Hydraulic Power Systems
Location: Warton, Brough or Prestwick – Hybrid 3 days a week onsite

Salary: £49,400 – £54,314 Depending on experience
Referral Bonus: £2000
Grade: E
You’re expected to have completed 12 months in role prior to applying for an advertised vacancy and you should also discuss the internal opportunity with your line manager to ensure sustained business continuity and to further support your career development.

Job Description
You will be responsible for the design, development, integration, testing and certification of hydraulic power and other aircraft flight systems throughout the full engineering lifecycle. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the role involves producing engineering solutions, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, supporting system integration and certification activities, and mentoring junior engineers. Ideal candidates will have experience in systems engineering, particularly within mechanical or fluid systems in aerospace or a similar safety-critical industry, along with a relevant engineering qualification.

Core Duties
- Producing and issuing Flight Systems engineering data to meet project requirements in line with agreed standards and procedures, whilst maintaining quality, cost and schedule adherence.
- Liaising with other engineering and project areas in a collaborative environment to develop engineering solutions.
- Planning, performing and guiding engineering tasks dependent on lifecycle phase which could include requirements development, system and equipment design and development, modelling and analysis, system integration, qualification and certification, Testing (Physical and Simulated), and Safety Case delivery.
- Steering new systems development through implementation of best practice systems lifecycle processes across the disciplines of Integration, Safety, and Test.
- Providing guidance and support to a developing team, sharing knowledge, expertise and best practice.
Essential Skills
- Background within a systems engineering environment and a good appreciation of the engineering lifecycle would be expected.
- Previous experience in the role of designing, developing and supporting Systems products would be advantageous.
- Experience in Mechanical or Fluid Systems Engineering, preferably in an aerospace application or in a similar engineering or technology focussed industry.
- Successful candidates will hold an HNC/HND/Degree in Engineering, Maths or Physics Degree or be able to demonstrate equivalent relevant experience.
The Hydraulic Power Systems Team
Join the Flight Systems Department at BAE Systems as part of our specialist Hydraulic Power Systems team, delivering critical aircraft systems for current and next-generation air platforms. Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, you’ll contribute across the full engineering lifecycle—from concept and design through to testing, certification and in-service support. You’ll collaborate with engineering teams across the UK and internationally while helping shape innovative, safety-critical aerospace solutions in a team that values technical excellence, knowledge sharing and professional development.
