Job Description
About the role:
As a People Technology Engineer (Recruitment & Talent), you will be a key member of our growing People Technology team, focusing on the functional design, configuration, and optimisation of our global talent acquisition tech stack. This role is not just about maintenance; it’s about technical partnership. You will turn complex recruitment requirements into seamless digital experiences, ensuring our systems from SmartRecruiters and candidate scheduling tools to Workday Recruiting are scalable, secure, and intuitive for every candidate and hiring manager. You will own the functional health of our talent acquisition domains, ensuring our hiring tools evolve alongside the business. Crucially, you won't just be maintaining the current state, you will have a seat at the table in evaluating new tech, piloting emerging tools, and actively deciding the future architecture of our recruitment tech stack. This is an engineering-mindset role where you will apply technical rigor to functional configuration, system logic, applicant workflows, and security design.
How we work:
We apply engineering principles to People Tech. You’ll be part of a team that values documentation, peer reviews, and scalable architecture. We empower teams to make decisions and take ownership. We value clear outcomes, strong cross-functional partnerships and measurable impact.
What will you be working on?
- Functional Configuration: Lead the hands-on configuration of Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) like SmartRecruiters, onboarding modules, automated scheduling tools, and Workday recruitment touchpoints, building complex hiring processes and custom validations.
- Domain Ownership: Take responsibility for the reliability and performance of specific recruitment and talent acquisition tools, ensuring they have appropriate support, documentation, and logic.
- Stakeholder Consultation: Partner with Talent Acquisition leaders and hiring teams to design and implement technology solutions that optimise candidate experience, increase operational efficiency, and maintain compliance.
- Operational Excellence: Manage and resolve complex technical support queries via Jira, identifying root causes in the recruitment pipeline and implementing long-term functional fixes.
- Data & Reporting: Design and build advanced custom reports and talent dashboards to provide the business with critical insights into hiring metrics, pipeline health, and high-quality data.
- Technical Roadmap: Lead the evaluation of new recruitment technologies and integrations. You will collaborate on the long-term vision for our talent ecosystem, deciding which tools we adopt, sunset, or optimise to ensure our stack remains cutting-edge and addresses technical debt.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Communication: Exceptional ability to translate complex applicant workflows or technical logic into simple language for recruitment stakeholders and hiring managers.
- Engineering Values: An egoless approach to work, a deep focus on candidate data security/confidentiality, and a commitment to high-quality testing and documentation.
